What a dumbass. Nobody is going to buy that excuse. 1) MSU would have clearly informed him of any key deadlines and 2) if they didn't, any person intelligent enough to get into college should be able to read a 17-ing set of rules and know when the deadline is.

The best route is to make it a sob story that he didn't have enough time to adequately get a feel for whether or not he was draftable. He should make it appear that he wasn't able to make the appropriate decision of withdrawing until the "unreasonable" time frame the NCAA has set had already passed. Plus, document he took nothing from agents or signed any papers. Make it sound like the NCAA is screwing him over by not giving him the time necessary to make the best decision for himself and that he needs to get back in to school and play ball for his long term benefit and the NCAA is unnecessarily keeping that from happening.

I know all that is BS, but it's the only thing that could work.

ETA: Actually, 17 that. His answer just pisses me off. The sooner that he finds out "I didn't know" is a bad answer for most anything in life, the better. I don't care if he plays for MSU. He shouldn't be allowed to play NCAA ball simply because he didn't know about a rule. This isn't some over complicated tax legislation. It's a deadline that has been mentioned on Sports Center no less than a dozen times. Maybe some compassionate/coddling soul can buy him a 1 way ticket to Europe or Egypt and he can play ball there?

The title of this article is missing a word, he lists Bost as trying to come back for his senior season instead of his junior, and one of the paragraphs ends without even finishing his sentence.

Sounds like Katz is as much of a lazy dumbass as Bost.

I talked to Dee Saturday night and he told me that he will know Friday what the terms of his eligibility are. He said that he's back in school and has admitted his eligibility forms to the ncaa and that Friday we will know whats up.

Did he give you ANY clue as to what in the heck he thought he was doing during this royal screwup?? Should have been clear to him from day one he had no realistic chance of being drafted.

If Dee Bost would claim that there was a sudden internet outage because some cattle stampeded and knocked down Mississippi's only telephone poll he'd be reinstated. I mean, he couldn't dial up to his AOL account for a week!

I bet those smug bastards would buy that...

...as others that broke 'amateurism' rules that are purely technical, such as paid workouts, etc. It's not like he's a paid professional (the definition of "non-amateur"). Partial suspension, x games. But yes, he's still a dubmass.

Btw, i looked up the definition of 'amateur', and find it funny that almost no top D1 athelete meets the first definition, especially in basketball.

he had no intention of pulling out when the deadline hit. Go back and read Veazey's blogs during that time- it's obvious. Apparently though shortly thereafter, Bost got told that no way in hell was he going to be drafted. And now he is scrambling.

We'll see how it goes, but it's hard for me to believe the NCAA is going to institute a new rule, and then let players break it right out of the chute and come back to play. That isnt how they have operated in the past.

And kudos to our coach for trying to improve the schedule...it appears someone gave him a lecture on SOS. Now if he would only attend a lecture of offensive basketball movement

Neither one of them can be happy with that, for their own sakes.

"Look, the rule is absurd. No one can get a true read on whether he should stay or go based on one week with limited to zero workouts. The NCAA and NBA should say together that the players must decide whether they're in or out of the draft, or they should give the players all of May to decide and let them work out."

The date to withdraw should be the same for the NBA and the NCAA.

And Bost should exploit that. Although it may be the truth, "sorry, I forgot" isn't going to be effective. A little white lie isn't going to hurt anyone in this situation. He's effectively no different than any other potential draft entrant that withdrew on time - just dumber.

Way to go champ. Like I said before he has no one to blame but himself.

It is amazing some of our resident hoops gurus want to see a more complicated offense - when we have an idiot like this running the point. This clown is obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed. And his basketball IQ isn't much higher. The guy had free reign over an offense designed for him to take it to the rim. Yet how many times did he squander a one-on-one opportunity to fire up a three?

Sidney on TV as much as possible when he gets eligible. I hope we can get a decent team for the Jackson game.

And more than likely that is the plan but there is one catch, Bracky Brett will have to get off his lazy *** and prepare the case. My sources have said that the NCAA knows this is somewhat ridiculous but the real question is will they admit it. Also, Moultrie is now between us and FSU and Auburn and Moutrie's former coach at Auburn are trying to make a play. Who knows.

It is normally during Christmas break, but it sounds like we will be globe trotting (Bahamas-Hawaii-Las Vegas) for all of Christmas break.

but they haven't won a NC. Everybody cannot be good. MSU will never be a top program but we manage to beat these teams fairly often...even with Croom a few times.
