CINCINNATI -- A former interim University of Cincinnati's head men's basketball coach was arrested early Thursday on an assault charge.

A complaint filed in Hamilton County Municipal Court states that Andy Kennedy "punched victim with a closed fist while shouting racial slurs."

The victim was a cab driver.

No other information has been released so far.

Kennedy was named head coach after Bob Huggins was fired in 2005. At the end of the season, Mick Cronin was hired as the head coach and Kennedy become the head coach at Mississippi.

the real question is what did he yell. I assume it was an arab cab driver, so there are lots of possibilities.

If true, he'll either be fired, or have to do the rehab route, i'd guess.

It's a good thing for the cabby that there was no chair in the back seat.

And, I love OP4's helpful assumption - "it was an arab cab driver." [Nothing to see here! It wasn't a [sheriff in Blazing Saddles] or anything like that. Just some arab.]

Those Squids at State should have finished his *** off when they had the chance.

"Kennedy is now the head men's basketball coach for the Ole Miss Rebels. The Rebels play the Bearcats tonight here in Cincinnati."

98% of cab drivers are foreign, not "arab." I'd say there's an even mixture of muslim, hindu and Christian among them. The cabby's name is Mohammed Ould Jiddou. He is undoubtedly muslim. Ould Jiddou is the name of a city of 3.6 millioin in the African country of Mauritania. I'm willing to put down serious jack that this cabby is an African Muslim - not in any way shape form or fashion an arab - black in color.

What say you?

I think this would have been a crime long before Opra's time and the coining of the term PC. With this argument, W is a ***** and the Iraqi guy that threw his shoe and verbally assalted him should be let go.

this looks to be right up there with Larry Eustachy's road trip parties while he was at Iowa St. He might have a slim chance to survive with a suspension and rehab, but this could easily cost him his job.

I was planning on enjoying this a little at the Reb's expense but now that I think about it, this is not good for any of us.

By tonight, it will be reported nationwide on ESPN that the "head basketball coach at Mississippi State" is a racist.

This sucks for the whole state.
