I think one was ed Cunningham. The same tool who ranted about an Eric Martin clean hit against Okie state years ago. My gawd, punch me in the face before I have to listen to this idiot again. Talked about, why we not going for two, dumb, talked about why it's dangerous to kick a fg when we had one blocked earlier. Lol, it was a punt blocked dummy. Other guy corrected and he still said we had fg blocked. Total moron. Don't call our games again!!

Definitely not one of my favorite announcers. Beth mowens probably better.

Now there's an idea: Ed Cunningham WITH Beth Mowens in the booth!

I thought some of the comments that he made yesterday were complete B.S. He honestly seemed dejected when we won the game. Where's Keith Jackson when you need him?

Tool=Ed Cunningham
He is completely clueless and at times will say things that defy logic. He sucks almost as bad as the officials yesterday, sorry he actually is worse.

Cunningham has diarrhea of the mouth. He talks all game and adds nothing of substance. Plus he is constantly changing his mind. Grow a pair Ed and take a stance.

I'm still holding a grudge against Ed for going on and on and on about how awful Eric Martin was for blasting that Oklahoma St. player on a kick-off (I believe). Diarrhea of the mouth is an apt description.

he was also going on and on how it should have been a targeting call on the huskers when there was an indiana ball carrier that was being"wrapped up" and then still got hit. give me a break--the whistle had not blown, the ball carrier was still moving forward and the 2nd tackler did not lead with his helmet.

He likes to make up stories also, hate it.

Ed defines targeting as any time two players' helmets clank together. If he ever reffed a game, there wouldn't be enough players left to finish it.

Among all his other incorrect comments, he started out talking about IU and NU's incompetence in the red zone. Do your homework.

That was the call that I remember most about his whining. The ball carrier was wrapped up by Kalu I think, and was fighting to stay upright and get more yards. I think it was Nate Gerry who came charging over and put a shoulder right in the middle of the big part of the guys back to knock him down. Immediately Cunningham defined that as classic targeting of a defenseless player. He uses the term targeting like a lot of people use the word ironic. It sounds good in a sentence, but it makes absolutely no sense towards what they are actually talking about.

After Morgan's TD put NU up 23-15, Cunningham literally questioned why NU wouldn't go for two to go up by 10.

Maybe he was told there would be no math.
Yep... I thought that was such a moronic statement... kick the extra point and be up 2 scores... go for two and fail and Indiana can tie the game the next time down the field.

Not a fan of Beth who is not a color guy like Ed but at least she knows her stuff.

Lol on Beth Mowins ... she appears to use talking cards or something.

Iowa up 14-7 and Mowins talks about the FG kicker of Minnesota, when the Gophers need a TD, not a FG.

Ed Cunningham wouldn't bring that up, he is also color, rather than PbyP like Mowins.

Pretty sure I said that about Mowins.

You all still had it better than me. I was driving back to Tennessee from Miami and had to listen to it on Sirius Xm (Indiana's Announcers). Want to talk about horrible? They define it.

I've been on the "Ed Cunningham" is awful tirade for quite some time. It's just the facts...he clearly doesn't like Nebraska (mainly from the fiasco he created with Eric Martin a few years back). He'll take ANY opportunity to try and go against our team-even when there isn't any (like the 2 pt thing he got wrong). TV cut to them in the booth and their producer is in the background. That guy earns his pay with Cunningham. A few other blatant missed calls by Ed:
1. That broken screen pass that got called for intentional grounding...the RB was right there. Penalty should not have been called
2. Some major holds/block in the back missed call by Indiana
3. Missed Pass interference calls against us

Read on another board that we're getting round 2 again with these guys this week for Purdue. Might have to go to the game now....

Listen, I get it if EC has an ax to grind with NU and I am even fine with it. But I would say even for Ed he had a really bad call on this game Saturday. It really seemed like every play call he questioned by either Wilson or Riley he was wrong. He really kind of blasted Wilson for punting early in the 2nd quarter in Nebraska territory. IU pins NU deep, they get a blocked punt for a safety and get some momentum, plus the still get the ball back.
There were several other issues that were brought up in the thread, the going for 2, Pat and Mike Riley, the targeting statements, all bad. I even heard him call Tommy Armstrong, Tommy Armour!
Seriously, I get it. I am sure calling a different game each week is tough, but you have a whole week to prepare, and if you are doing games all season you should really have a better grasp of players and coaches. Especially on a Top 10 team. I don't know, maybe it is a ton easier to watch the game on TV and really see what is happening, but to me it should not be that hard to call a game.
I also think now that damn near every college football is televised that the on air talent is really watered down. Especially on ESPN/ABC, I really think the conference networks do a much better job like the Big Ten, SEC, Pac 12 and even fox with the Big 12.

So far in this thread we have confirmed Cunningham does not know:

- how to count using XP, FG, TD's as the numbers
- the strategy when to go for 2 or when to punt
- the difference between Pat and Mike Riley
- the definition of targeting
- anything else?

Cut the guy some slack. It's not like he's college football TV announcer. The UI game was a practice run. I'm sure he will be amazing for our game with Purdue...

When IU got the ball back after their last score he said they ran the exact same play that they scored on. What he didn't notice was that it was to the other side and there was no fake reverse (at least not that I saw on camera). So ya, it was the exact same play except totally different.

Cubsker-He is doing our game this week.

Agree on all of thee above. Network announcers are way down on talent and Ed "Two hand touch" Cunningham keeps grinding that axe against Nebraska whenever he can. Funny thing is he just makes himself look more stupid each time. Amateur hour. Maybe the producer in the booth should hand HIM The binoculars....
