he does have a good stick, but played 1B both games. We all know that he will not play that position for The Cards anytime soon. He looked a little "thick", which I wasn't expecting. So 3B is the only other position he could physically play. He would be a liability on defense from what I've heard. I'd say go for it if it would be a straight up trade. But I wouldn't give away the farm for Holliday. He hasn't been tearing it up this year.

From what I have heard and read, it is scary when he starts at 3rd. Wild throws and missed plays and he does have a weight problem. He has DH written all over him.

Wallace is a bona fide hitter. There is no doubt he will hit on the major league level. I've read that his defense is improving.

out of position just for his bat. Duncan was a victim of being forced to play OF, and he definitely wasn't good enough for that, even though he gave a valiant effort. If Wallace can't play third well, he has no position (because of Pujols.) I say do the trade, just hold on to other players (don't give up Ludwick) and offer straight up or nothing.

I don't know a lot about the Cards minor league system, but from everything I've read and heard Wallace can absolutely rake. If he is a DH masquerading as a 3B/1B then a trade to the AL might be a good move, but I think trading him for Holliday would be a mistake. Holliday isn't the MVP caliber player he was in Colorado. Moving back to the NL and away from the huge park in Oakland will likely help his power numbers and overall numbers, but I don't think giving up a prospect the caliber of Wallace would be a very smart move.

I wouldn't do it for another OF bat. Hell, you just cleared the logjam out there by trading Duncan yesterday and you're already talking about playing Glaus out there when he comes back off the DL. 5 OFs vying for PT won't work. I think you'd be much better off trying to move him in a deal for Halladay. Adding Halladay would put you over the top and seal up the Central for you. Your offense should do enough now that the OF is settled and DeRosa is off the DL. And it'll improve when Glaus comes back. I just don't see the need for another OF as much as for a real #1 pitcher. Your rotation is ok, but Halladay would solidify it and let the rest of the rotation fall into place.

There is zero chance that Halliday comes. They arent going to pick up that large sum of payroll plus give them the whole damn farm system. They also want the trading team to pick up Vernon Wells and his bloated contract.

to trade for him. I would rather The Cards sit and wait for a pitcher that can contribute at a reasonable price. Wellemeyer has been awful. Carpenter, Wainwright, Pineiero and Lohse is acceptable. We need a number 2-3 at a reasonable price.

I'd rather see us get a more 'affordable' pitcher than Halladay since we've already got 2 guys who are good as anyone else. Plus Lohse can be a very good 3rd guy, and Piniero can be very solid 4th. Plus, Dave Duncan has the ability to get pitchers to play above their past performances.

There's no reason not to deal him. He's obviously not going to make it up behind Pujols. And Pujols will be there his career hopefully. So, do it. Get a good outfielder who has shown he's a great hitter in the past. Get him in a positive situation in St Louis vs. 17'n Oakland and let him thrive next to Pujols

Duncan and Ankiel are both liabilities at the plate. Holliday would take most of Ankiel's at bats away. Holliday, Rasmus, Ludwick would be the outfield.

Holliday would also benefit greatly from hittin in front of or nehind Pujols.

Schumaker
Holliday
Pujols
Ludwick
DeRosa
Rasmus
Molina
Ryan/Lugo

Is a pretty stout line up. Now if Glaus comes back and can play then there is another log jam. I doubt Glaus will come back and be effective.

I say yes to Wallace for Holliday, no for Rasmus and others for Halliday.

However, this article claims Wallace is major league ready with the bat, and he is more athletic than he appears.

What about Wallace to third, DeRosa to second and Schumaker to left?? That's assuming Wallace can handle third. If he can't, then deal him now. If he can, then call him up.

there was noise a week or so ago of a escobar & prospects for holliday and cabrera trade.

if he's going anywhere other than atlanta, i'm happy that its st louis. question that looms, is whether or not they'll have the money to keep this year's team together past the end of this season.

on another tangent, how long is derosa under contract?

This is the last year of the three year deal he signed with the Cubs. He is a free agent after this year.
