Chris Simms won't be the starter. The Broncos are gonna make sure they get a starting QB back in return. They're talking about Brady Quinn or what amounts to Sanchez or Stafford as possibilities. I don't get the love for Cutler. I think he's very overrated. To date, he has done nothing of note. He's got the talent to be really good, but so far nothing to show for it. I think getting Quinn, Stafford, or Sanchez would be about equal risk as sticking with Cutler. They're all unproven; its just a matter of who the Broncos brass wants to take a chance on.

Cutler completed 62% of his passes for 4,500 yards and 25 TD's...his INT's were a little high, but due to his ****** defense in Denver, they were behind alot.

Stafford and Sanchez are along way from producing those numbers.

If i'm Detroit, St Louis, Oaktown, SF, Buffalo, or Minnesota- I try to do whatever I can to get him.

Cutler put up over 4,000 yards and is far and away the best QB they've had since #7 retired. He's got a cannon for an arm and makes smart decisions for a young QB. If he had a defense worth a **** and a better running game, his INTs wouldn't have been so bad.

The risk of drafting a QB as opposed to having a sure thing in Cutler.... it just doesn't make a damn bit of sense.

last time i checked there were 11 on offense, 11 on defense and 11 on special teams.......and if one of the three units suck......you dont win a lot of games....case in point: New Orleans Saints's Drew Brees : 10-6, 7-9, 8-8 record the last three years....so are going to say it is all on Drew? I mean hell he almost broke the single season passing record last year.....oh the year the record was made....the dolphins made the Super Bowl..................if defense or special teams for the saints was even respectable they might have been able to make a playoff run

I'm not sure how long he has been in the league, and I don't feel like looking it up, but I think his best years are ahead of him. I'd be trying like hell to get him if my team didn't have a QB. And about the interceptions, does Brett Favre come to mind? That's who he reminds me of, he has a strong arm and from time to time he trys to make some throws he shouldn't.

no way he goes to the raiders. you don't trade within a division, especially a QB. not to mention the hatred between the franchises. highly doubtful you get a worthwhile QB in return (how often do you see a decent one on the market). a high draft pick or two is the likely scenario, although there's no certainty that quinn, stafford or sanchez can ever accomplish anywhere near what cutler already has (remember how often these first round QB's pan out, its a crapshoot)

and for all the talk of him not being a good QB, have you watched him play? at denver or vandy? he's a very good QB, and, as previously mentioned, his best years are in front of him. compare his stats to other "good" QB's at this point in his career. and the INT's are definately a product of a poor defense. you can only gameplan so much against an NFL defense, once you get behind you've already shown your hand and the secondary has a better view of what you are going to try and do.

The guy is easily one of the top 10 qbs in the league. In terms of what the future holds, potentially, he is near (if not) at the top of the list.

You'd have to be a complete retard to "question" what he is capable of. Don't give me this "what has he done so far" crap. What he has done is be the ONLY bright spot on an otherwise struggling team.

Of all the issues Denver had last year, Cutler was FAR from one. Try EVERY damn position on defense before you question Cutler.

To address Coach's post...if you are Denver you do whatever you can to keep Cutler. If it is too late (which, I hate to say, I think it is) you make sure you get a first round pick and (1) a veteran QB with a couple of years left or (2) a veteran defensive player with a lot of years left. Or, get mutiple first round picks. Yes, somebody will give up two first rounders to get a 25 year old Pro-Bowl QB with all the potential in the world. As Denver, you have to draft a QB this year or next. And, sadly, they will most likely NOT be as good as Cutler, nor will they have that potential. I suppose you could let Chris Simms struggle for a year, but he certainly isn't the answer.

The sad thing is, Cutler in Denver is the best situation for both parties. If Cutler is traded, it will not be to a contender! And if Cutler is traded, Denver will not be a contender dispite have a very solid offseason so far.

Neither did Elway. Neither did Favre. Neither did MOST of the great quarterbacks. He has the same thing they all had, A ****-TON OF POTENTIAL. They panned out, countless others didn't. Don't count him out before his time.

Nobody is making him out to be a great QB. People are simply saying that he HAS all the tools of being a GREAT QB. And, no, that doesnt' get tossed around for everybody.

People said that about him coming out of college. Nobody is saying this about any of the guys coming out this year.

Sometimes, people come out of nowhere and become a "great." Most of the time, we know the guys who "could be" great. We are able to watch it from start to finish as the players grows and develops and eventually gets to that "great" spot. Some players with potential reach that peak. Some fail, while others land somewhere in the middle. Cutler has it. Will he pan out? I don't know. I personally think he will and I hope like hell that Denver is able to find a way to keep him.

This whole ordeal just pisses me off. As a Denver fan, I am shocked at the way this has gone done. A no-name coach and a no-name GM came in and instantly made their mark. CHRIST! This is something I expect from Oakland, or even Dallas. But not Denver.

The thing that really pushes my button is that the best deal for both parties would be for Cutler to play in Denver. Denver fans are desperate for a quarterback who will lead us back to glory. We hoped it was Griese, we knew it wasn't Beurlien (sp?), and we hoped while knowing it wasn't Plummer. I'm telling you know, it IS Cutler. He will retire with AT LEAST one Super Bowl ring. I have no doubt about it. He is playing for a team whose fans want to see another great QB to come through but isn't the type to eat him alive if he doesn't reach that point. I hope this can be repaired, but fear it is past that point.

If Denver has to deal him, they better get a lot more than what they originally talked to New England about. That would have been a joke of a trade!

Other than Collins, and maybe Palmer cause I don't think he can stay healthy, I'd take all those over Cutler who has put up numbers but won nothing of significance. Hell, the Broncos started all this by wanting Matt Cassell, and I'd take him over Cutler. He stepped in after not starting a game in 20 years and won 11 games.

However, we should have made a better hire than we did. We SHOULD have already had a deal worked out before letting Mike go. We didn't complete need an "upgrade" like most teams do when changing coaches but we needed new blood. We go a first time no name head coach and an even more disappointing GM.

And yes, you are right. Denver really looks like Oakland right now. It is sickening.

I don't even know where to begin with this. All of the ones in bold are very questionable but the fact that you have Flacco on that list is idiotic at best. You give Cutler Baltimore's defense and he wins a title this past year

That is why I don't think it would be a good move for him to leave now. And why a change in systems may be the best thing for him at this point in his career.

Delhomme is usable. Contrary to what one person thinks, he is NOT better than Cutler. But I'd take a solid veteran defensive player, a usable veteran qb, and a second round pick (at least) for Cutler.

That gives us some time to figure out the QB situation long term. Maybe Sanchez or Stafford could fill that role. Maybe somebody emerges for next year.
