Our defense is not very opportunistic. I know that there is certainly a degree of "luck" that goes into getting TO's- simply being in the right place at the right time- but it seems like whenever we have a chance to get a tipped pass or pick a ball off, it bounces off of someone's hands or the other team will fumble, and we can't fall on it and get the ball.
Is there anything our staff can do to help our defense get more TO's? Is it a talent issue?- some guys have more of a nose for the ball than others- see Fred Smoot. What is it?
Our best defenses were really good at getting TO's- see 1999 and even in 2007, we had an opportunistic defense.
This isn't really a complaint, as I'm not really sure if anything can be done about it. I just want to know if there's something that we can do to be better at it.
