and will have to sit out this Fall...coaching staff was told this but hasnt passed it on- dont want Brunetti leaving to go to another school of his choice or to a juco- got to keep him hoping

Stanley- gone
Garrett- gone
Haggard- gone
Stoudt- rumors of failed drug tests or at best possible academic problems
Brunetti- has to sit out it appears and could go to a juco to get out of that awful situation

that leaves Mel Tillis' son Mackey as their main hope at QB

could be rough on the Bears in the future

Of coarse he's a true freshman and would probably be a disaster if he had to play next year. Does anybody have a list of all the qb's that played in the grove bowl? I don't know what they would do if a couple qb's got hurt. Wide recievers running the Wild Rebel-Bear?

or at least he asked for a grey-shirt to hear a few Rebs tell it. Then again, Yancy says he is the best QB to come out of this state since Jason Campbell.

What were the circumstances of his transfer? I'm not familiar with his situation, but they don't just grant a waiver because you were unhappy at your previous school.

His mom was in a car accident BEFORE he signed with West Virginia. Went to WVU and could not break into the starting role. Ended up slotted behind Geno Smith who is a Junior so he was looking at sitting until his Junior year. So, he transferred to Ole Miss and is claiming it's to be closer to his mother. Supposedly, and I'm not disputing this, it is painful for her to make the drive to West Virgina to see him play because of her injuries. My guess is, had the accident happened after he went to WVU he would get the waiver but because it happened before he probably won't.

I didn't hear anything about not telling Brunetti, but I did hear the NCAA had essentially said no.

OM is going to appeal. I heard they're expecting the appeal to come through late May.

I feel bad for the kid.Too bad the closest school to his mom, in Memphis, is still over an hour away. Wouldn't it be great if there was a college team inthe same town his mom lives in

It should be based on whether the kid's being closer to home provides some sort of tangible serivce to the mothers needs.

I dont mean happiness either. I mean that there is some sort of pragmatic necessity for him to be closer to her that she cannot sustain without.

On the other side of that coin the NCAA has to feel just a little bit...shall we say, DUPED that the appeal for Masoli to transfer based SOLEY on an academic reason was abandoned literally as the seconds ticked off in the egg bowl.

So, me thinks the appeal to pity that the Brunetti deal is based on, must ring a bit ingenuine.

I think he sits a year on the "fool me once shame on you...fool me twice...." theory.

I'm quite sure there will be those who say, "but do you feel the same about YOUR transfer from Clemson?"

Nope.

1) Pre-existing condition.
2) Others schools are closer than the University of Mississippi Louisiana Bears.
3) He still has a redshirt year available.

I don' know this to be a fact, but I've heard his mom's Dr is an OM guy. No clue if that's true or not, but would be pretty telling about where this whole transfer thing could've started.

they are scared shitless right now because it just donned on them that if Brunetti doesnt get the waiver (which he isnt- Arnett Moultrie can explain why to him), that leaves them with Stuttering John and Stoudt at QB- and that is it. And Stoudt didnt even get to play in the Spring Game because of his "issues"....

Even better is that Brunetti left WV because he wanted playing time. One has to wonder if he will sit out and RS- then back-up Ma-Ma-Ma-Mackey and Stoudt their Sr years? Or does Brunetti go juco and then finds another school where he can start in 2012?

Actually Geno Smith will be a Junior this season so if Brunetti had stayed, he would probably not start until his senior year unless he took a redshirt or somehow beat out the guy that started all 13 games as a sophomore. It appears Mom would have had until September 2013 to recoverbefore she had to worry about making the drive.

It seems as if the annual QB transferappeal is becoming their 2nd biggest game of the season behind national signing day.

They're going to suck this fall with him or without him, and this would get him a redshirt year and 3 years to playfor the same coach.

No matter when the accident occurred, I don't think that the intent of a hardship waiver was to allow a kid to transfer without sitting out a year because his parent couldn't comfortably drive across the country. I hate that this happened to the kid and his family, but I don't see the NCAA equating a stiff drive to a parent that's on their deathbed.

then yes, that would be good for them. One has to wonder what he may do now that he will have to sit out another year

when he turned cold shoulder on Mullen after about 36 hours in WV. Just a dumb move to go there in the first place. It's cold, far, and they already had commits from another 4-star QBs and a returner who had playedsome already.
