Unfortunately, it is REALLY difficult to get a team pumped up about playing Troy and USA. It's just the way it is...
I think he poured everything we had into Auburn because that was the statement game that would define our season. From there, I think he just prayed that we would survive to the bye week and get through Troy and USA without terribly much prep for them and without giving much away in terms of formations and schemes on offense or defense. I think most on here would agree that the last two weeks, especially on defense, we've done very little in terms of blitzing and mixing up coverages.
The last two weeks we've looked unprepared and that's why I'm thinking Mullen has put very little into these last two games and way more focus on the upcoming two games. We have the built in reset button with the week off where we get to refocus on the conference schedule and the ultimate goal, which is to move up in the pecking order in the SEC. I may be way off base here with what I'm saying, but I don't think the MSU team we've seen the last two weeks is the team we will see the rest of the season. I think we will see a completely different, much more aggressive team in Lexington in two weeks.
doesn't have to get up for an upponent. A mature, good team will realize it is all about them, not about the opponent. By this I mean that a good team will always strive to improve itself each and every drive of each and every game. A weak opponent shouldn't make you weak. You should give it your all to get better each and every Saturday and improve your execution. State tends to take entire quarters off. In the past that led to scratch your head losses. At least now the Dogs can play like big feces and still win.
