We didn't need Walter Sharpe. We needed that S.O.B. as far away from our team as possible. If you could put Barry Stewart's brain into Sharpe's body then yes we did need him. Rhodes did not get his crap together until Sharpe's influence was gone.
I do however agree that Bost will probably go down as the best PG in MSU history before he is done. Still may be a little early on that call though. With Kodi it is all between the ears. Keep his head on straight and he could be All SEC. Revert to form and he will be buried behind Riek, Osby, and Bailey.

it is about his head- you cant question the ability. If we get a full season of the Kodi Augustus that played the last 6 games for us- we wont have to worry about being in a Sweet 16- it will happen. Him, coupled with all the other talent, will be hell to deal with.

Bowers > Bost???

Bowers averaged more TO's but did have a half assist more per game. Bowers also barely shot better that season than Bost did last year as a true Freshman. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Bost has some solid improvement in his 2nd year and has a better year than Bowers. It wont take much improvement at all for him to do that
Stats do not tell the whole story though. Timmy was a gamer. When Bost has the balls to walk up the court, stop, and drill an NBA range 3 with 7 seconds left on the road to force overtime like Timmy did against South Carolina then i will put him on the same level as Bowers. Just because he put up similar numbers as a guy who had played point for about 6 months doesn't do it for me. Bost will end up being great, but he isn't there yet.

We were left for dead until the dreaded 1-3-1 halfcourt trap came out late in the game. That three pointer Bowers his is etched in my memory forever. He just came up the floor, pulled up and drained it in the faces of ~15,000 screaming Cocks. When we got the game to OT, I knew we had it won.

Its splitting hairs, but i think Bost is a better POINT GUARD than Bowers. However, Bowers was a better player. Like has been mentioned, Timmy contributed so many things that didn't show up in the stat sheets. I think Bost will be one of the best PG's ever at State and one of the best players. He will most likely do the little things and hit some huge shots for us in the next 2-3 years, just like you said. Also consider, PG was not Bowers natural postition as it is for Bost.

All that being said, I give the slight edge to Bowers if I was picking one of the two to be my PG for next year. If we're looking 2-3 years down the road, I may have a different answer. You can't go wrong with either. Its a fun argument to have. I'll also add that I'm somewhat biased because Bowers is my favorite player to ever play here. Bost is quickly moving up that list as well though. I love to watch him play.
