A bowl game win will calm a faction of the fan base down. So will at the minimum one staff change, if not two. As will landing some difference makers thay are still an option.

None of the three, that'll leave me with an uneasy feeling. One of the three and I'll take a few bottles of tums. Two or better, with one being a staff change, dang good sign for this fan.

Well, in year 3, this whole thing is going to get real for him. The record is acceptable this year because of how bad it was last year. They beat most of the teams they were supposed to. Next year they are going to have to pull out some big wins Wisconsin or Ohio State and continue to beat the Illinois' and Northwestern's. Not a big Riley fan, but he deserves a chance. This team's biggest playmakers were, for the most part, seniors. It will be interesting to see what it looks like next year and who will emerge as team leaders.

I actually liked his attitude tonight. I hope he busts some asses (coaches and players), but Yep, we either go up from here or down. It will be interesting.

...is shot. Just the next generation of Nebraska staffs to get blown out and beat by teams you have no business getting beat by. Not so surprising this guy has never sniffed a championship.

No business losing to the team that 2 weeks ago beat Michigan? You expected this team with a non healthy Armstrong to beat Iowa today. Please explain how.

If you are going to ***** about what happened today please explain exactly what could have been done to change the outcome.

We get Wisconsin and Iowa at home next year but overall a tougher schedule probably. Better QB play from us would help. TA played as hard as he could but you can't change his stripes. Tough kid. Competitor. Great athlete. Below average accuracy and questionable decision making. Hopefully Lee or POB are the real deal.

Start the healthy option at qb, duh. A ten year old knows this. Worst case is you lose by 30

Winning games you are supposed to is step one, we are a long way from step two. Feels like we took a big step back in the program today
I feel your pain and next year it may be tough too. We're going to be playing if not starting a bunch of redshirt freshman on our O line and redshirt sophomores on our D line. QB play is going to be a huge factor and nobody has any idea what to expect from Lee or POB. We have to recruit better for our offensive and defensive lines and I THINK we are doing that.

....ugh. I guess I'll take the bait even though you are playing dumb.
There is a difference between losing and losing by 30 in the fashion we did today. Would I be happy if it were closer? No. But we certainly wouldn't be as upset as we are if it were closer. We got dominated by an average team in all phases for four quarters in a rivalry game. This is worse than OSU.
If you can't tell the difference you must be a Bo fan, cuz they couldn't either.

Perhaps in an individual fan's mind there is goodwill lost but overall most fans are now slowly realizing why the last guy was fired. The difference beteeen this loss and some of the others in years previous is that we benefitted from the scheduling and won a few more than we should have and now people want to set the expectations at unrealistic levels for the third season of a transition.

We are a program that was on probation in a sense. For years we didn't recruit well or enough guys and we didn't process the non-contributors to make room for actual talent. Being impatient and sharpening the pitchforks may seem like a great thing and even a bit cathartic, but wanting to can a class before he can recruit mutiple classes is how you get it handed to you over and over. Callahan was fired at a time where he left a lot of talent and then everyone thought the guys that followed were great and they just benefitted from what was left to them. Hell, to this day, puzzlingly, Bob Stoops has a title because of what John Blake left him.

I gave your post a like as I agree. Recruiting could go either way, not bad now, but could fizzle. A bowl win works like a tonic, as we saw last year. I was wondering besides the one coaching change that is so obviously needed (rhymes with Deed), who is the other one you would can?

You calling Iowa average after beating Michigan just shows you are not objective, you just can't accept losing to Iowa.

I'm the one who has been trying to tell people I saw this coming and fail to see how anyone who knows football couldnt.

I thought we could get blown out with our QB and O line situation. Likewise IF we had hit some of those long passes it would have been a game in the 4th quarter. 13 for 35 wasn't going to end any other way with a hobbled running QB. Anybody that didn't see how Iowa has improved as the season progressed hasn't been watching them.

Iowa is absolutely average. We beat mich state last year...were we anything more than average? Heck we weren't even average. 5-7. Anybody can beat anybody.
You're reaching to sound smarter than everyone else. Stop acting surprised that people are upset we gave up 40 to this Iowa team and scored 10, and played with the overall lack of intensity that we did.
Stop.

Agree totally. To win TA was going to.have to throw at about a 65% clip plus to win. That's not likely looking at his history.

If he had even hit those 3 guys that were behind the entire Iowa secondary it would have been a game. That would have put him in the mid 40s and would have completely changed the way the game was played.

I'm not sure that QB play, more specifically, decisions and game management, could be any worse than it was this season.

I get being upset, but tell me what could have been done differently with this roster??? Right now you are bitching to *****.

And yes I saw it coming. Before the game I posted a picture of "Hawkeye" from MASH laughing on FB and said this is how the afternoon is going to go. In other words, we are going to get our asses kicked. We did!

You obviously don't get being upset, you are calling people out for it..wow.
Also, the changes need to come in the preparation and philosophy of the program. Coaching in practice, game planning, practice style (see banker quote), film preparation (watch psu scheme vs ours vs OSU).
You know what could have been done differently with this roster? This exact roster, that every year was ranked higher than Iowans, even with our detractions?
We could have NOT lost 40-10. There's your answer, and it's 100% true.

Ranked higher when? Are all those classes still intact?

So you are in the meetings and practices to know what preparation is going on?

I saw Banker's quote. That's all fine and good when you have adequate depth and experience on both lines.

Fact, Nebraska plays Iowa 10 times with these rosters and TA not able to move like needed, Nebraska loses probably 9 of 10.

********. You have explained nothing on how this team goes into that game and wins. You bring up stuff you can't prove if you weren't in the room or on the field.

Ugh...again...you are so wrong you refuse to even acknowledge what people are upset about because it goes against your argument...40-10. Say it with me now. 40-10. Iowa. IOWA.
And if i cant prove we didnt do what was necessary, you cant prove we did and couldnt execute...right? Or does the door swing one way?
Seriously goodbye. I respect your occupation too much to argue with you about this.
Good night to you sir.

No I get being upset. Im not happy about it either. What I don't get is what anyone thinks could have been done differently to change the outcome with this roster in the condition it is.

You are just mad, with no rational points.

Someone at our house said every game we were favored we won. Every game we weren't favored, we lost. Just found that interesting to share.

This team beat NO ONE of significance. And don't tell me Minnesota 8-4(after tomorrow) is a "very good team"-- they beat Oregon State (3-8) and Colorado State(6-5) by a combined 14 points and lost to EVERY team that has a winning record this year--- BOOM ROASTED!!!

Nothing you stated goes against the fact I posted. You think there was intention with my post, and there wasn't.

Wyoming beat two ranked opponents "--BOOM ROASTED". Now I feel as stupid as your response reads.

Good grief, I can live with loses but getting our *** kicked by an average Iowa team is ridiculous. Recruit some serious ATHLETES, coach better and train harder!!! Dammit

So your saying you believe in Nebraska exceptionalism? I love it!!! It all starts with recruiting on the OL and DL-- this staff needs to go balls to the wall and identify their top available prospects on the LINES and send our top recruiters out with game tape in one hand and depth charts in the other!! No more chasing WR's or waterfalls
