Any gun owners thinking about buying another one? :raised_hands:

I only have 2 right now. A Taurus Pt111 9mm and a Heritage .22 revolver that my son likes to shoot. Since the stupid coronavirus ruined my vacation plans I might just buy me another gun. I've been wanting to get a lever action rifle (it's been fun playing around with the old technology on the .22 and it's making me think about trying out some more). Didn't everyone think the Rifleman was cool as a kid?

I wouldn't shoot it that fast near my nuts though.

Keep your thumb away from the kickback. Just saying that you can cut your thumb.

By the way I learned that while shooting a compact 9mm for the first time. Was trying to find the most comfortable position to hold it and unfortunately raised my thumb up a hair to much. Sliced right through it and bled like a stuck pig. Learned a valuable lesson about shooting smaller guns that day.

I hope I never shot anything other than a piece of paper but it's mine now.
By the way, I thought golf was an expensive hobby. $38.99 for 200 rounds of ammo and $20 an hour at the shooting range. I better get good quick at $60 an hour.

Only costs like $10 I believe at Knob Creek for as long as you want to shoot. You just don't get the creature comforts of an indoor range. You just have to deal with cease fires every 30 minutes I believe it was.

I have a cut on my thumb. Make sure your hand that isn't pulling the trigger is below the chamber that kicks back. I learned that yesterday. Also, the shell casings are hot. I hope one never goes down my shirt but from what I'm told, it will probably happen.

If you guys are close to Owensboro, they have a pretty good outdoor range (Rock Hill). Runs about $10-12/day.

I think I heard their rifle range goes out to 500yards now, too.

Repeaters are far and away the funnest guns to shoot imo.

Henry Arms makes awesome ones. Canadian Arms makes good ones for the money. Love me a 30/30 with octagon barreling.

Smith & Wesson M&P-15 .223/5.56x45mm. My new varmint project I'm working on now.

Like, OMG:eek:

It's so scary looking! That's a machine gun! We need to ban that!!!

It looks like something batman would own, and CNN had a gun town hall and found 2 cops in 10 million who said they are MILITARY WEAPONS!! Did you hear that? I think those things are used in less than like, 1.7% of crimes!!

AND IT'S BLACK

You can get pretty good just dry fire practicing at home. Get your grip down, sight picture, trigger pull, etc. Then just duplicate all that at the range and work on not flinching when it goes bang. Don’t have to burn up all your ammo.

Might want to get some snap caps/dummy rounds.

I learned how to fire correctly dry firing. It's an excellent way to allow your gun to become an extension of your hand. And you're right saves the **** outa some ammo.

I heard that too.
CNN myths could fill a library. It's a semi-automatic just like hundreds of others. I wish it was military.:uzi:

Yep. If I don’t dry fire regularly, then go to the range, I can definitely tell I haven’t been practicing. Just getting the grip down perfect, like you said an extension of your hand, does a lot.

Live fire is just dry fire with a bang

Of course working on all your manipulations safely at home is very important to help build muscle memory.

I bought a piece of, well, essentially swamp land in a small town about 35 minutes outside of memphis. Around 10 acres on the note. Only cost me 18K with 1,000 down and 265 a month. I built a small range on it and we have a blast.

If you ever get a job Mash, or have a little money from the lottery, you should definitely try it. Cheap land is everywhere, you could even put a trailer on it.

I don't blame you. A lot of people will become desperate to wipe their *** in the coming weeks.
I subscribed to cases of toilet paper on Amazon 2 years ago. Last month when we had 5 cases in the basement built up and a 6th on the front porch we cancelled it. I look like a freaking prescient genius right now

Can anyone recommend a good 9mm semi automatic in the $300-$500 price range for home defense and conceal carry? Watched a few videos on YouTube but wondering what BBN thinks.

For sure, it’s just with absolutely no experience I would want to understand the best way to store it.
Obviously somewhere high and out of reach in a safe but also where I could quickly access it needed.
You need to train your boys in gun safety so they know how to handle a gun. At very least, drill into them the danger of pointing a gun at anyone and the consequences if they do.

Sig238. It’s a .380 but it’s super smooth and perfect conceal pistol. Fits right in your front pocket and doesn’t stand out.

I've been around various weapons for more than 60 years and never seen an accident. I have seen incidents of negligence and carelessness.

If you're talking about home defense & conceal carry. You are probably talking about 2 different guns. For conceal carry, I would recommend a revolver with a concealed hammer. And if you are going to carry it in your pocket or your wife in her pocket book. Probably something not too big. Like a .38 caliber. The advantage to the concealed hammer is that there is no hammer to grab when you need to pull it out fast. And for home defense. You want something bigger like a .357 mag or a .44 magnum with 4" to 6" barrels. And load your .44 magnum with either 210 or 240 grain hollow point bullets. If you want a long gun for home defense. You might want a 12 guage pump action shotgun with an 18 & 1/2" inch barrel. And load it up with #00 or #000 buckshot. And if trash tries to break in your home, then you can give the buzzards something to eat.

I like the idea of a hammerless revolver for concealed carry, especially for people relatively new to shooting or someone who will do a minimum of training. There's much less chance of an "accidental" shooting with the revolver. Most self defense uses come at close quarters, and the small revolver gives the assailment less to grip if they make a grab at your weapon. I like the 38 Bodyguard of S@W.

I find the brutish struggling of the poors amusing. Buy a nice home in a great neighborhood and stop living in fear. I can't even remember the last time I thought about crime as it simply does not happen anywhere near me. I see things on TV and find the savage struggles of the common people tragic, sure. But not enough to where I feel like getting down in there and wallowing with them with my high powered guns and gleaming knives like some mercinary soldier of fortune on guard duty at the back gate. What kind of neighborhoods do you people live in where you're armed to the teeth awaiting zombie hordes to claw your windows out? Geesh. Must be tough out there living on the plains of Africa surrounded by lions and all manner of great beasts of prey as you pry out a living on your small rock outcroppings sleeping with one eye opened. Great life choices. I hope my post doesn't distract you and cause your perimeters to be overrun.

I was just about to state this. Practice unloaded........a lot.......do it properly......it'll help train the stupid out of you. You can even get laser practice systems for your home. I've heard that some of them are getting pretty decent......but still need some work.

Also, Glenn, in regards to ammo. If properly stored it can last for decades. So, when things calm down and prices drop, buy a bunch of ammo in bulk. It'll save you big money in the long run.

He probably lives in a neighborhood with a lot of thieving democrats. You know the kind of people that won’t work & considers looting as a right.

I imagine that given that his post was a bit over the top he was trying to be sarcastic......so, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

However, he did make a comment about "living in fear" that I've heard some others say. For the people that actually say comments for real like this, it's a comment born out of ignorance. >99% of gun owners are not sitting around pissing themselves with every bump in the night. By a huge margin, most gun owners view their firearms like they would a seat belt in a car. You aren't terrified to hop in a car everyday.......and you hope you never need a seat belt.....and there's a fair chance that you never will need one......but they are certainly handy and lifesavers if you do need one.

True. I have 4 guns but rarely carry. I usually forget to grab one on the way out the door. I was a little worried during the riots here in Louisville because the idiots did get a little too close to where i live but thats all.

Maybe I was naive, but it really seemed like the first half of my life the vast, vast, vast majority of crime was in certain areas of town. But now it seems like things have spread to nicer areas. I now carry almost everywhere. I know that it's such a low chance that I'll ever need it, but then again it's such a low inconvenience that it's no big deal to "have and not need."

Yeah, I’ve never felt unsafe going anywhere in Louisville until all the bs this summer. There were areas I wouldn’t want to go but crime was usually confined to a few areas. They seem to be expanded out to where they think the money is.

Agreed. Still, no matter if you carry or not, as always the most important defense is the weapon between your ears. Never, ever, ever leave home without it.

Emails going through the church group of a relative. Green Hills, Belle Meade, East Nashville to be specific. "Supposed" to be info from gov source. Something "supposed" to happen in next few days, warning people to get food, water and possible loss of power. No info on why other than that's what antifa does.
