Any suggestions of new hobbies other than MSU sports?

For so long I've had only 3 hobbies. MSU football, basketball, and baseball. God only knows how many hours and dollars I've wasted on these 3 only to have my heart ripped out. Seriously how many teams could blow one of the best pitching performances ever with an all american closer coming in with a lead? No way we'd ever the luck LSU has. A freaking wild pitch on an intentional walk? WTF. And to top it off, a guy from MS has the winning hit? I cannot take this anymore.

I'm open to new hobbies. Something that won't have me in a bad mood for most of 9 months but that is actually enjoyable. Don't say hunting either, because waking up early to sit in the dark just sucks. Serious replies only.

Been following MSU Sports for 46 years now..... Seen way, way more losing that winning. I let it get too me too much....But I will still hang with them....and criticize the garbage play....and compliment the good play......be strongly disappointed with the losses and greatly exuberant with the wins....

You don't ever have to wake up early because the best hunts I have been on are in the mid afternoon. Trap and skeet shooting will make you better in killing the dove.

Plus if you do it the right way, your dove hunting will include your chair in the field being replaced with an ice chest full of cold beer.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it's always the first weekend of football. We are undefeated at that point so there's all this false hope and all that keeps me from it.

Set you up a E-bay account and go to garage sales buy crap cheap, put them on ebay for four times what you paid for it and make some extra money. It is amazing what people will buy on ebay. Also don't be scared to sell to over sea bidders. They really like out crap. I guess a lot of it they can't find. I went Toys or us and bought four five packs of trash packs collectable toys. They were the first series and out of print. I paid 5.99 a pack at toys or us an sold them to a lady in California for 15.00 a pack. A Few years ago I bought about 100 Osprey Military uniform books at Hobbie Town USA for 1.00 per book. I sold them for 8.00 per book on ebay with in a week. I make about 6000 a year extra money on ebay. Take out about 1200 for exspenses and I clear about 4800. I could do more but I don't. My wife is a stay home mom and I should get her involved. One advantage I have now is after doing it for five years I know what to look for.

That is what I have done. It is only as expensive as you want to make it and I rarely get up early to fish. It is relaxing and you can drink large quantities of beer while doing it. If you would like to, you can even listen to State sports while doing it. The iphone app is great for listening to baseball games while fishing.

Plus, it is not bad eating either. You can take the kids or leave them home. Perfect hobby for me.

Hammocking- if you want to relax this one is great. Buy an ENO, take it on a walk/hike hang it up and chill. Read a book, take a nap, whatever floats your boat. Shoot if you are close to MSU's campus there are tons of great places.<div>

times a week...or more. This morning I ran a race in Biloxi and placed third in my age group. It doesn't matter about the trophy..it's nice to walk up there and get it...but the feeling of accomplishment..starting and finishing..is what makes it all a winning experience.

Going to the Sanderson Center is how I got into climbing. Safe and easy way to get into climbing. Now I've climbed in quite a few places around the country and internationally. Its a great way to build balance, tone muscle as well as mental strength. Start with bouldering, then move on to trying to climb specific routes. It's a sport that can take you to incredible locations with incredible views and also introduce you to amazing people.

Took up the sport about two years ago, and absolutely love it. Told a buddy that I had spent thousands of dollars going to MSU games, many of them heartbreaking losses, but that I had never had a bad experience while kayaking.

It doesn't have to be in a competitive sense. Just for personal gain and accomplishment. For some, it's amazingly addictive. Amazing how much stress it relieves. Also, kayaking is awesome.

if you don't already. When those things took place in my life, the loses and.........loses of Mississippi State were put into perspective and seemed much less important.

You can be as social as you want with it too. The good part about not being an elite runner is that you are back in the pack and can talk to others and check out the scenery.<div>

Get a good $100 pair of running shoes every 3-12 months and buy some good running clothes (a couple pairs of running shorts, some good tech fabric shirt, and a couple pairs of socks can be gotten for under $100 and will last you many years), enter local races at about $10-$20 a piece with the occasional higher dollar race (and races often provide running shirts/socks/hats as part of the goodie bag you get), and you'll be set. And if turns out you don't like running, you still have the clothes which can be useful. You can't say the same thing about golf clubs.</div><div>

Seriously, you have no hobbies besides MSU sports? There is more to life than the bulldogs, they will break yor heart.
I enjoy tennis, golf, softball, hunting, fishing, cooking, wine collecting, reading, gardening, and I do handyman jobs around the house. I used to play a bunch of basketball, but my old bones cant handle it anymore. For your sanity, you need several hobbies besides MSU sports...

With a good supply of batteries you can spend hours and hours of quality time.

I am now about to get on an elliptical (old shattered ankle eliminates jogging) and burn off about 600 calories......this no hobby just damn hard work.

BTW....how much fat does 600 cal equate to. I still am fat and now out of breath. I seem to be missing something.

very relaxing and even educational, not to mention the fun factor is off the charts. We live on the coast where there are hundreds of places to go. We have been to Indian Mounds that can only be reached by boat, bald eagles nests and Alabama's largest cypress tree. I would suggest a sit on top model for beginners (like me). I have a Tarpon 120 by Wilderness Systems, but Hobie and others also make good boats.

Once you have purchased your boat, paddle and life vest your financial commitment is practically over. No motor to maintain, no gas (for the boat) and no insurance. And Gravedigger is absolutely correct, camping and kayaking with friends can't be beat.

Sorry for the book, I'm sure this is more information than you wanted.
