I can't imagine the conflict, emotional turmoil, and nausea that is going through every Bulldog groomsman, usher, brother, etc. who's going to be stuck at a Saturday afternoon wedding this Saturday afternoon.

Great story. A young guy I know was to be a groomsman in his uncle's wedding in Austin this Saturday.
The uncle called him today at lunch and "uninvites" him to be a groomsman so he can go to the game.
Mind you the young man did not ask. He was set to go. Uncle did it out of goodness of his heart.
I'm betting he is now Favorite Uncle.

Not a wedding...
but I sold my season tickets before the season this year.... Living in Houston, TX I know that I only make one or two games a year. With aTm and Aubrun being the two games I would go to this year, I was kinda disappointed to have a due date of October 9th for my first. Needless to say I'm not making any games and the wife will be induced on Thursday. I'm praying for health for mom and baby... And a pre-9am hospital release in Saturday morning.

I'm attending a wedding the weekend of the SECCG. I know it is premature to even worry about being in that game, but I've already had people asking me if I will really miss the game should MSU make it. Yes. Its family, so that's that. I won't be happy about it, and the groom will never live it down if MSU wins the West, but I won't be Atlanta that weekend.
I don't get this at all. Granted, I am not a woman and don't plan to be. That said, I have plenty of female friends, (no not like that, I'm no Ozarka/Carskadon) who understand The South they were raised in. In the fall of the year two things rule Southern life. College Football and Hunting. These female friends are just as annoyed at the Southern Fall Wedding Ignorance, as we men are pissed about it.

My wife planned a spring wedding in her home town in KY. The wedding started about half time of our final four game. 1/2 the groomsmen were listening to the game on the radio with one ear bud during the ceremony. The KY game started during the reception and there was a big screen tv with the game on. MSU in the final 4 was never even a thought for planning but she should have at least considered a KY final four was possible.
Not so fast. Now you have anniversary weekend the rest of your life during football/deer season.
The only safe month in MS is May. There is nothing to hunt, it's not that hot yet, baseball isn't over but it's not CWS yet, and gulf fishing can be missed fora weekend because it is just starting.
There is only one problem: other states have turkey season last through May and I now live in one. Crap.
I've been able to convince my wife that this game is what she wants to do for her birthday weekend. And this also required cancellation of J.A. Charity Ball plans (thank God).

Brother n sister n law got married 2 wks ago. She doesnt understand all this but knew she best schedule on a bye week. Smart girl, i wouldnt have come last week if she had been that dumb. Brother was on his honeymoon though and could only watch parts of the game in st. Maartin

Did JA Charity Ball during the 2010 Florida Game. Actually ended up being a fun way to watch an away game. Not so much for a home game.
My sister in law planned her wedding two years ago on a home football weekend, State and Ole Miss. I immediately spoke up and said there is a home game that day for both schools and it wouldn't work for not only me but for every person in the wedding party. I caught backlash from every female in the family but stood my ground. The mother in law still holds it against me.
With two kids, I really have to justify and sacrifice the money to purchase the ONLY entertainment I provide myself in season tickets. It's 6-7 Saturdays out of the year. Pick another day. And don't waste the money on a stupid wedding. I've been the groom in two of them, its not worth it.

When I got married, we originally planned our wedding for the last Saturday in January (the weekend before Super Bowl weekend). My now mother-in-law **** a brick when we proposed this date and said an ice storm would ruin our wedding (seriously). We moved the wedding up to the August before since we wanted to completely avoid football season.
Turns out two days after our wedding Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. It didn't really affect us in Alabama, but my parents live in Jackson and were out of power for a few days. The worst part about her panicking about an ice storm and having seemingly no concern over a possible hurricane was that her son got married the previous year in Destin two weeks after Hurricane Ivan.

My sister-in-law scheduled her wedding the same day as the 2004 Egg Bowl. The family is from Mississippi, with fans on both sides of that aisle. I was pissed, to say the least. Then, she demoted my wife (her only sister) from matron of honor to just a bridesmaid. She's lucky my wife really loves her family, as I was all for telling them where to stick their wedding at that point. Instead, I missed the only home Egg Bowl I've been absent for since '97.

Same here. My first was born in September. Knew I would not be able to make a lot of games, so gave my season tickets up this year (this year only). But now, I'm thinking my presence at Davis Wade is what has been holding us back all these years. I will not attend another game as long as we remain unbeaten. It sucks, but sacrifices and all. The cross I bear.
Exactly. There's 52 Saturday's in a year. There's potentially 15 of those that will involve State. Pick any of the other ******* Saturdays. It's not that ******* hard.
My oldest niece got married during the A&M game last year. I let it be known to her and the rest of my nieces and nephews this was the only one. I won't be attending any one else's if its on a game day. I made it very clear to my wife to let her family know as well.

I got married on our bye week last year before Kentucky. Flew back in the Thursday of the Kentucky game. Priorities.

The truth, tell the selfish be-otch that if she wants to plan a wedding during football season to expect there to be collateral damage, like planning a cruise during hurricane season. I had one to attend on our open date, had Yahoo scores running the whole ceremony and reception keeping up w/ A&M's comeback against the Hogs and then checking in on Memphis and the Bears.
