Our players aren't as good

Conditioning for football isn't a big deal. In fact running a bunch of gassers and **** is illogical. The sport isn't played in that fashion. Lactate threshold is not a limiting factor for football. Anaerobic power and aerobic conditioning are key.

but I just think it's asinine to believe a SEC team isn't physically conditioned. I hope I'm misunderstanding you.

Well there's no doubt that all SEC football teams are "physically conditioned." That doesn't mean that they are conditioned well enough at all times. I know for a fact that Balis let us down for the A&M game last year. They were not in shape enough. I could tell during warmups and it showed in the first quarter when they were all bent over with their hands on their knees. What I am saying is that I don't think Balis has them in peak condition for every game. We seem to be tired before other teams of equal talent. And that's just my honest observation. Of course I am not speaking about all of our players. Mostly the D line. Anyway, we all know that perkins is in great shape. Mullen loves to leave him in for multiple one yard gains/losses in a row.
