is doing this year or where he is playing?

Saw where he hit .207 with 35 hits in 169 AB, 3 2b, 1 3b and 2 HR in Phillies rookie ball last year but can't find any stats on this year.

Found this article a couple months ago and thought it had some interesting tidbits.

http://crashburnalley.com/2014/01/15/the-future-is-unwritten-cord-sandberg/

Sandberg was committed to play quarterback at Mississippi State University before signing with the Phils. The Sandberg story isn’t, on its own, all that interesting. The Phillies had a connection with the Sandberg family, their extra exposure to Cord gave them confidence in his desire to play baseball and so they popped him in the third round.

Stupid question...if a kid goes to a minor league team out of HS and decides to quit, can he play college baseball? I assume that breaks his amateur status and he is ineligible for that sport, correct?

I assume minor league ball means you have an agent which means you're ineligible for amateur competition.

He can't play college baseball. Once you go pro in a sport, that's it. But he's still eligible to play college football.

Hiring an agent is only part of the story. Even if you're paid $1, the minute you accept money for play you're ineligible. Surrendered amateur status the minute he cashed his signing bonus.
