It was a treat to hear him on the radio again. He still had the same wit he's always had. I learned some interesting things about him. How he knew he wanted to be in radio ever since he was 10 years old (1935). His parents finally bought a radio, and he would listen to sports broadcasts from around the country and was fascinated by the mental picture the radio announcers portrayed during their games. He also touched on the easiest coaches to get along with throughout his years and Sherrill and Stans were his top two. Said before one game, that his recorder broke that held his pregame interview with Sherril (recorded at team hotel long before game) and Sherrill left team pregame to redo the interview a couple hours before kickoff in Little Rock. He commented that not very many coaches would do that. Wyatt even got him to say his infamous Sonic Drive-in Drive of the Game about the best drive of the day being his drive home to Tupelo from Starkville after the game. Going to be strange not to hear his voice on the post game show. Truly one of the greats.
