Anyone checked the summer baseball stats lately? Some eye opening surprises...

Todd or anyone else can shed some light on this but just saw where Girodo has been lights out. 39 k's to just 3 walks. If that's not wild enough, Frost and Fullerton have both hit 3 bombs each. Renfroe is still tearing it up of course. This all in a wood bat league. One of the baseball guys can fill me in on what's up. Are the fields 300 feet or something? And has Girodo really come around this much or is he pitching to legit competition?

Sam Frost is playing in a league where he is one of the more veteran players. Take nothing away from him- but it's not the Cape Cod. And he made the All-Star team. Personally, I don't think Frost is as bad as he is made out to be. He is what he is- a role player that unfortunately has had to start at times. But he plays good defense and he can run. He isn't a very good hitter, and he is small so people bust on him.

Chad Girodo, Trey Porter, Will Cox, and Nick Flair are all playing in California on the same team that Caleb Reed and Adam Frazier played on the year before they busted out. Flair made the all-star team and all of those players have had good summers. I hope the good results continue. The league that they play in isn't bad. Girodo is still going to be relief pitcher, but if he can become an effective left hand pitcher, it would be really nice. Cox will compete for a rotation spot and at worst will be in the bullpen and contribute. Porter will probably DH again, and I think Flair will take over at third base with us possibly moving Daryl Norris to pitcher.

Tyler Fullerton is playing in a pretty good league in Illinois. Not sure how much playing time he is going to get between Renfroe, CT, Demarcus, and Robson who I think will play a good bit as a freshman.

and probably not one of our top options there either.

He isn't that great of a defensive player either, his hitting has made people think that because they dont want to admit that he sucks all around. Frost led the team in errors this past season with 15!Thats a fielding % of .917

If he has significant PT this season its because we are plagued by injuries aGAIN

really good glove- he just doesnt have the arm to throw it across the diamond. All his errors were throwing errors

but a defensive replacement should be able to play more than one position well. In defense of his hitting, he did have an OBP of .370 in conference play. Obviously he doesn't have much power so he needs to get on base a lot to warrant playing time. I agree that he won't be playing much, but I have made that assumption every season and he has gotten to play. <div>

but like coach said once we move him to third it's back to the Frost we saw a couple of years ago when he **** himself if a ball was hit anywhere towards him. And have to agree with coach again on Frost's arm being his biggest liability at 3rd and if anyone needs to see evidence of that just look at the last game of the year.

If I was a player today, I absolutely would use wood over the bats they used last year even if I (or Dad) had to pay for them.

should be able to play more than one position. If we weren't decimated by injuries, he wouldn't have played nearly as much as he did.
