It's not the English, it's just totally incomprehensible. Have some pride in yourself man.

Yah because Fenwick would surely do the same thing.

Newt - that was a really cheap thing to say.

If MC "won" a game like that, I'd expect them to forfeit or I'd never support them again in any way.

LCN,

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I apologized to you for a claim I made? This is the kind of comment that makes me believe what I said. It's not always the direct things said, but the implications of what is said. If I'm wrong say so but this just doesn't look good.

Flyers99,

Quite frankly they aren't. I truly expected them to hang 70+ on Benet. The ESL Defense is fantastic, but the offensive is only above average and their kicking game is among the worst I've seen. As PJJP points out they have flaws that can be exploited. Do I think they will win...yes, do I think they could beat anyone in the state or region...No.

" Quite frankly, ESL is simply not as good as I thought they were. This is what you said. But it's all good.

He called some questionable calls on that first series on Saturday. Which he hadn't did. Benet ran the same defense as Willowbrook 4-2-5. He knew that. Even when they were down in the red zone. He called the same play back to back. We're up in the stands saying what play to call call, and they're a play late. Kicking game hasn't been good since the '08 win they won state. You are going be able to do more than just pass the ball. If they stop the run, you better hope the passing game is on. But it's hard to say what they would do against them.

What if all this happened at the end of the 1st half instead of the game? Would this all be happening?

Considering the fact that basically no one has seen their kicking game, I call BS on this statement. All high school teams have flaws that someone somewhere can exploit. To say ESL would hang 70 on Benet is very disrespectful to Benet. Adults are something else at times.

If PN wound up winning the game by 3 pts or less, or if the game ended in a tie and PN went on to win in OT, I think there would still be a big stink raised. However, I think the fact that it happened at the end of the game which resulted in an overtime that never should have happened makes this an even bigger stink.

I guess my bigger point and yes I should have framed this differently is that I don't feel that I'd the incorrect call benefitted Fenwick that they should have to forfeit this either.

We can discuss right and wrong all the time but this isn't up to PN and it isn't up to Fenwick.

Once the IHSA made the statement and hid behind its bylaws it becomes an IHSA issue.

Even if Plainfield tried to forgo the result and state they wanted Fenwick to advance I don't believe for a minute the IHSA would allow that to happen.

Nothing against either team I just don't think the IHSA is going to budge here.

LCN,

I agree that the problem that the IHSA has created has put both teams involved and ESL all in unwinnable situations and has created a reason for an asterisk on the game forever regardless of outcome. That is the most "unfair" part of this whole situation.

They can be better. The offense is not as explosive as in the past. But the defense is one the best ESL has had in awhile.
