Anyone else happy for Indiana?

It will be easier to sustain with a NC under their belt which is why I want them to lose immediately.
They won’t win a NC. Too many better teams who will be playing at their best (and not for some inconsequential conference championship).

No. I like them better when they sucked.

Ps. Why didn't PSU poach some of their players when their coach came here?

indiana yes. Cignetti no. he is a horse's ***.
I found myself completely conflicted watching that game last night. I can not tolerate gasbags like Cignettii, but that kid Mendoza made it hard not to pull for him.

Ohio State played like they played against Michigan last year, totally scared. Play-calling was embarrassing.

Mendoza's interview after the game was too much for me though I'm sure many loved it.
Glad they won but Cignetti's an *** and Mendoza's annoying IMO

I was somewhat happy for them and happy OSU was denied another conference championship. As long as we maintain our recruiting advantage over IU, I don’t fear them long-term to turn into an annual heavyweight in the conference. It’ll be hard to maintain that level of quarterback play in the long run. But they deserve everything they’ve earned this year.

They played like they felt they would win just by showing up. Or that the game didn't matter and were looking forward to the playoffs.
They played scared. The red zone trips were head-scratchers. Why do you take Tate, Smith and BI off the field and replace them with three TE when you need to score? And why run your 6' 1" 208lb QB on a sneak when you can give it to Jackson in the wildcat? As for the kicker. Why do you play that kind of game when you know your kicker reliably chokes in big spots, and you leave it up to him to tie the game? Some OSU fans thought that Hartline would be relieved of his play calling duties in the CFP, but Day nixed that idea.

Good thing we avoided him as HC... lol.....

Not me…the last thing we need is another world beater in our conference…it’s hard enough to recruit against OSU and Michigan without adding Indiana to the mix.
My thoughts exactly, not to mention Oregon which took the OL from DMV before James got canned.

I watch very little prollegiate football anymore. I didn't see the Indiana game yesterday. Nonetheless, I was happy this morning for their players, students, and alums. Even though the Hoosiers have been undeniably good the last two years, it still has the feel of a Davey and Goliath story. I hope they figure out how to take the whole thing.
Hope the Hoosiers win it all.

IF - you could find a more rude / smug / disgusting / jealous / whiny / crybaby / football coach, team, program, imported players - good luck. This has been a basketball school with no love for any .... any other sport. W's for two years does not make for any celebration.

I dont mind cignetti. Had to take a flamethrower to the culture at what was quite possibly the worst program historically in college football. Had to bring bravado and irrational self confidence to the program because they have never had it before.

I appreciate what IU has done these 2 years and I'm happy for their players and fans but I can't stand Cignetti. IU is going to come back down to earth in the near future and I'll enjoy watching the arrogance of Cignetti dissipate with each Loss.

I am happy for Indiana. And also Vandy, even though they did not get into CFP.

As far as how it impacts PSU - tighten the belt strap and get to work.

Cignetti wins wherever and whenever. Google him.
He's certainly changed the dynamic at Indiana for a while. I don't expect them to win 10 games a year going forward but I do expect them to be much better than they have been historically. Maybe Iowa level.

Agreed. He is beating Oregon and tOSU with a roster that has zero 5* and only seven 4*. While our new coach has a reputation for doing more with less Cignetti is an alchemist.

This may be the most off base post I have ever done on this board and if it is I will own up to it but I actually think that OSU losing on Saturday increases their chances of a natty or at least getting to the NC game. The similarities to last years loss to scUM down to the final score and how the game went are very real. This is a pissed off team right now with a lot of talent. Everything that could have gone wrong for them did and they lost by a shanked 27 yard FG.

As an aside, they should use some of that NIL war chest to get a kicker!

IU (and Cignetti, his staff, and their team) are a rare glimpse back to a time when college football was about assembling a squad of players, coaching them effectively, having that team go out with focus and effort as a team, and play very well - while keeping their eyes on the prize of "playing well, and - hopefully - winning".
As opposed to a bunch of guys seeking "theirs" - wrt $$$, camera time, and all the other "stuff"

The fact that he and his staff were able to assemble and develop such a squad - by necessity - in the era of transfers and constant state of flux within second-rate professional football, is truly remarkable.
The most enjoyable team to watch (and root for) in the last several years.

I agree but Indy is spending a lot. I suspect Mendoza is getting a $million. They're just not spending as much as OSU or Oregon.

Proleggiate football, thank you 19333lion, will see more of teams like Indiana and Texas Tech. Get yourself a decent coach who can bring some players with him, give him a budget to pick and choose from the pool of transfers, and money to hire assistants he trusts. You can have a winner in a year and compete right away. I expect Penn State will see a Top 20 team next year and likely a victory or two nobody expects.

Happy for Indiana. Don't understand the hate for Cignetti. People would absolutely love him if he would have come to PSU.

Don't underestimate IU. They would very likely be favored on a neutral over everyone except OSU.

I wouldn't like him here as a person but acknowledge he's a great coach and a winner.
