the university was at the camp shaking hands with recruits? I doubt it impresses the recruits that much and I'm not sure that is a proper role for our President. Maybe it happens everywhere I just don't recall ever seeing that. Of course we've only been in the social media age for a short period of time. I'm sure in the days of the SWC the Presidents were shaking hands with cash. ;-)

Just curious what others thought.

Believe it or not it can make a significant difference especially with parents. Some kids and families actually like the fact they are treated as more than just a piece of meat.

We need more top brass to show up. As a parent I believe the life skills center is extremely important.

Yes, history has shown it is good to have the President and Chancellor involved with every facet of the football program.

Just kidding - I thought it was impressive her was there.

I was surprised... Most University Presidents care about the revenue aspects of football, but they don't give a **** about athletics.

When my daughter was being recruited to Dana in Blair for cross country, we visited during the fall and they were having some time trials. Not more than a dozen girls were on the squad....far cry from football. The President showed up and introduced herself and watched with us while chatting with our daughter. Thought that was pretty cool.
A year and a half later she shut the place down in the middle of summer without any warning so she was pretty much hated by everyone but for a brief moment it was cool. Winking

Perhaps being the president of the university he understands how important Husker Football is to not only the University but the City of Lincoln and the State of Nebraska!

I think it is a little odd for the system president to be at a campus football camp. Maybe the role of the system president has changed, but I think back as far the Roskens' era and would have been very surprised to see him there. It's not a big deal but I think traditionally attending a campus event like a football camp is the turf of the campus chancellor.

You seem to forget that the president is a former assistant coach at Mississippi State. Sure that football is still in his blood.

Nope. Doesn't count. If he didn't play for Nebraska it does not matter what his background is. No matter how good of an athlete/player/coach that he was.

My reaction had nothing to do with the president's background. Perhaps the atmosphere has changed considerably such that there is no longer any "competitiveness" between the system office and the individual campuses. But I doubt it.

Showing top to bottom total support from administrators, teachers, coaches, fans can only be a positive. We as a state want to be the best program possible. How can that not impress?

The President of the University of Nebraska can visit with recruits and their families if he wants.

Why?

Because he is the President of the University of Nebraska.

Next topic. Winking

How is this not a good thing? What if he was there simply because he was? And if he shows up at a band recital are we going to question why he's involved with the music department?
