Anyone else think the teams drafting are getting really stupid?

I understand all this getting the best player available with the lockout or whatever, but this just doesn't make sense. Falcons trade 5 picks to move up and get Julio with the 6th pick when they have Roddy White and Michael Jenkins. Titans pass over Gabbert to get Locker and must think Locker is ready to start now with no Vince Young, and they really needed DT help with Fairley still on the board. Not to mention they hired Tracy Rocker in the offseason so that's a huge plus for Fairley. Jax trades up to get Gabbert with Garrard still playing well. And the Texans have one of the worst passing defenses in the country and they pass over Amakumara and get J.J. Watt at DE? Guess teams are going best player on their boards maybe.

This now looks like teams are probably talking to other teams and may trade players in the offseason or something. That is ridiculous to do with Suh out there. They need secondary help, LB help, and OL help.

Can you imagine trying to stop Suh and Fairley from getting in the backfield for several years. I don't see anything wrong with the pick if they felt he was the best player on the board.

Fairley and Suh coming at ya is gonna be nasty. They can load up on OL and secondary in the next couple of rounds.

yeah i love the fairley pick. barring injuries, the lions easily have the best interior DL in the NFL for the next 7 or 8 years. a DL with suh and fairley are gonna make the LBs and DBs look a lot better. and where they got fairley. it wasn't like they traded up for a luxury, a guy discussed as the #1 pick not long ago before character talk kinda dragged him down the board fell to them at 13. with a model citizen like suh and vets like vanden bosch on that D, i think they can keep fairley in check.<div>
</div><div>as for the atl pick, michael jenkins is not very good. not agreeing that they didn't give up a boatload for julio, but they are in the middle of a super bowl window. in the nfl, most teams don't have a big window. they needed a good WR to complement white and spread the D out and they went for it. </div><div>
</div><div>stupidest pick is cam newton. the panthers aren't winning **** in 2011 anyway, especially if cam doesn't get a full offseason of work in. they are gonna be in the running for the #1 pick next year with or without cam. why not take darius or miller (since they run a 3-4 not a bad pick, unlike the broncos picking miller for a 4-3) or patterson, then privately hope you suck again to grab luck? now they won't have a defensive stud, and they'll suck and might be stuck looking at luck at the #1 pick next year and being tied to cam newton at QB. just an awful short-sighted decision. luck is the best NFL QB prospect since peyton manning. easily. </div>

falcons-following the path of so many other winners (see colts, packers, pats, cardinals, saints) find a winning qb, spend all your money protecting him and gettting him weapons. It works.

Lions- are doing it. Stafford healthy, suh and fairly at DT's. it would be like minnesota in the early years with the williams...ummmmm you can't run inside tackle to tackleand lb's run free. They will be solid up front for years. They can spend the rest of their money on weaponsfor stafford.

Jag's-garrard never going to get you deep in playoffs but you can live with him 3-4 more years to give gabbert time.

Houston-no idea...they love taking DL's/DE's. maybe they havea plan for corners in free agency. see charles woodson's resurgence.

Dallas-(whom I am a fan of) typical jerry jones 17ing bull ****. No name OT in the first round 9th pick. How 17ing stupid. get a freaking fat boy tackle in the 2nd or third. Maybe we make up for it with other picks...but as you can tell I am pissed.</p>

Get Stafford healthy and get some production out of the RB they picked out of Cal last year and the Lions are going to be pretty good.

Can you imagine trying to run up the middle against Suh and Fairley? 3 yards and a cloud of dust is going to be minus 2 and maybe a fumble.

Seriously, this should be Detroit's best season in years. If Stafford can protect his body...
