Anyone Else Think This Would Be A Great Idea?

Having our Athletic Dept. and TAMU's get together to make our annual game a "Rivalry Game" similar to the "Magnolia Bowl" make it the "Maroon and White Classic" and have Jackie Wayne present the winning team with a trophy ....little know fact when we used to play TAMU it was dubbed the "Aggie Bowl" back in the dark ages

It would just look fake and contrived. Our biggest rivals will continue to be UM, UA, & LSU, with Auburn close behind. Their biggest SEC rivals will be LSU, Arkansas, and Missouri. Putting a name on a "rivalry" game that isn't really a rivalry just looks ridiculous.

Pretty clear that the "Aggie Bowl" didn't mean much to anybody.

I feel like we have a connection with them. I like the idea of going back to the Aggie Bowl. If magic wasn't happening at the Snow Bowl, then it has never happened in the great game with the pointy-ended-funny-bouncing ball.

The tradition is already there; all we have to do is accept this gift and revive it.

but who cares? It would be fun and we have to play the game anyway. They are now a Western Division rival so I honestly don't see the harm in us hyping the game up a little bit and having fun with the fact that we share a very similar school history. We seem to be stuck in a mode where if it can't be the biggest and best thing to ever happen in the world it isn't worth doing. I disagree with that...

before it`s a rivalry. We may hate LSU and Bama but unless they are having a down year and we`re on a rollwe`re more like a bug on their windshield than a rival.

Their traditions are not something I want MSU to be associated with in the future. ROTC gone berserk, all male cheerleaders, grass you can't walk on, the list goes on...

Public Attention is always good and I think our teams match will match up well in the coming years

Ive said since the A&M to SEC thing started that we should set it up so that the winner this year gets to wear Maroon jerseys in the game next year. I dont believe its ever been done before and it would give the game more attention

I've never really been a big fan of just...forcing rivalries onto certain schools, but that.. I just look at it more like a friendly wager. Winner wears maroon or at least picks what uniform they want to wear regardless of where the game is played. As far as making it a rivalry... I just don't see it.
