that it will be a 6 PM ESPN game. Not sure where I heard it though, so it may be false.<div>
</div><div>Living just 3 miles from the UofH campus, I'll be there. Anyone looking for any advice on what to do in the area or where to stay, feel free to ask.</div>

Is hosting our annual golf tournament on Friday at Tour 18.

We will also be hosting a tailgate party before the game at the UofH campus. Beer will be plentiful.

I would highly reccomend touring the St Arnold's brewery downtown. The tour starts at 11am and for a few bucks, you get to try some really great beer. I'll have mire info about any Friday gatherings as the date gets closer.

I almost forgot. For you all male groups, I have 2 words for ya: strip bars!!!

Here's what I'll do for you guys... I'll start on a long list of where to play golf, where to grab a beer and watch some early afternoon games... and where to stay... etc... Sometime around the start of the season, I'll post the list.

Sound good?

Chic hotel with a good bar scene (in the hotel) and a shuttle bus that will take you to whatever bar you want to go to (its also on the Metro Rail): Hotel Zaza in the Museum District<div>
</div><div>Rice Village is pretty convenient to the stadium and has 7 or 8 good bars that are packed with young coeds on Friday/Saturday night.</div><div>
</div><div>Midtown has some great bars/clubs if you are more in the yuppie age bracket: Pub Fiction, Red Door to name a few.</div><div>
</div><div>Good place for cigars/scotch: Downing St on Kirby</div><div>
</div><div>Staying in the Galleria area and want a top notch meal and dont mind paying for it: RDG (formerly Cafe Annies)</div><div>Other good restaurants that dont serve only Mexican: Ibiza, Catalan, Reef, Pesce, Backstreet Cafe, Marks American Cuisine, Mockingbird Bistro</div><div>Mexican restaurants: Lupe Tortilla (best steak fajitas anywhere), Pappasitos, Americas</div><div>
</div><div>Golf Courses:</div><div>Unique, not terribly expensive - Tour 18</div><div>Toughest course in the area - Blackhorse (has hosted the PGA Qualifying school tourney before). Its a bit of a drive and $$$ but the best challenge in the Houston area</div><div>Just want to drink beer and slap a ball around - Clear Creek or Southwick</div><div>Both of the Wildcat Club courses are OK, a bit pricey, but unique layouts for the area (very convenient to those staying inside the 610 loop).</div>

If you like beer, be sure to check out The Ginger Man and get a yard of your favorite or try something new. It's a couple of blocks North of University Blvd on Morningside Dr in Rice Village right next to Rice University. Over 100 different types of beer with at least 75 on tap. Neat place.

Do not stay near UH, it is in a very bad neighborhood. Stay either close to downtown, the Museum district, Rice (West U), or the Galleria.

Washington corridor is the "in" bar scene now. (just northwest of downtown.) Many good restuants and bars(beavers, Tap house, Catalan, Dark Horse, etc.)

For bars not on Washington, Anvil is excellent for those that like well made cocktails and cask beer, near there for a alternative crowd with good drinks is Poison Girl. I like under the volcano also.

For food not mentioned, Stella stola is great, as is Haven. you cannot really go wrong with The breakfast Klub, Taste of Texas, Papa's Bros Stakhouse, or Moe's a place for steaks. Feast is widely considered the one of the best new resturants in the US.

I wish people would finally learn that Tour 18 is not the only place to play golf. I mean if you're trying to let people have fun in Houston why not try and pull people more local instead of making them travel all the way out to Humble. Just sayin... There's better courses. Wildcat for me all the way if I'm staying in town. ...but I'm not cuz I live here. I"ll stick to my little private course.

Anyway, as far as places for a watering hole I would do yourself a big favor and get here on Friday night and go out then. The most important thing about U of H campus is that they sell beer. Why go anywhere else. Party @ the stadium.

Friday night you can go so many places it's ridiculous. My personal favorite, if I had to choose. Take your lady to Pappas Steakhouse. It's a little pricey, but you'll never find a better cut of meat.
