Headed that way after class on Friday and we don't know too much about downtown Atlanta. I know there is alot of parking at the dome, but was trying to figure out if there was anywhere else that would be better to park. We want some place to leave the car that won't get towed if we don't make it back there until sometime Saturday/Sunday.<div>

Look off of Marietta St/ Centennial Olympic Park Dr. Plenty of lots/garages. I would stay away from MARTA. If you plan on staying for the entire SECT, I would suggest staying downtown.

Plenty of $10-$15 lots down in that area, including the main lot at the Dome. Obviously he closer you get to the Dome, the more you pay. MARTA is not necessary. That's an option to consider for football when there are huge crowds and parking is tight but then getting a train out is a nightmare.

One thing that is different for the SEC tournament than for football is that people are constantly coming and going, and there are fewer of them. With a football game, you have 75-80k who all leave at the same time. With the SEC Tournament, and us playing Vandy late on Friday, there may be only 10-15k in the Dome when the game ends, so getting out is not nearly the problem that it is when a football game ends. Also makes parking for the event easier obviously.

I think the last time I went (the night the Dome almost blew down) I was in the blue or gold lot. It was like walking through Libya getting back to my car, which I was thankful to see unscathed.

Here;s more info. You can order parking on line for the blue lot for $8. Pretty good deal.

You CAN park downtown but I highly recommend using MARTA. It will save a lot of frustration. The MARTA station at the Dome is right next to the entrance--very nice. Otherwise, you're going to pay $10-$20 and walk half a mile to and from your car and deal with major traffic afterwards and hoodlums all around.<div>
</div><div>Saturday there is a Hawks game at night and the Harlem Globetrotters are "playing" at Phillips Arena at 1, so it will be even more difficult to find a spot Saturday. </div><div>
</div><div>Take MARTA...</div><div>

I don't recall if there were other events at Phillips the last time I went. I just know the blue lot was wide open that year and the year before.
