I know it's not about our new basketball coach, but I'm hearing they had a player or two test positive for steroids.
There are many legal pro-hormones that can be legally bought at many supplement suppliers that will cause a positive test for steriods/hgh/performance enhancers. So a positive test does not necessarily mean he took a illegal steroid, just an ncaa banned substance. Many preworkout supps that are very popular have ingredients that cause positive test. Would also love to know how often they do these test at Div 1 schools. A urine test is cheap and catches most recreational drugs one might do but hormonal screening takes blood work (I may be wrong) and is much more expensive. I wonder how often they even do this at the college level.jacksonreb1 said:positive for some sort of performance enhancer.....HGH maybe (?) not sure and not going to name the kid although others may. not sure where he stands but may be done. this was reportedsince the first of the year but a while back.
as wussy as we were last year i'm surprised anybody even thought to test us.
Thats what many off these pro-hormone companies do. They barely alter it chemically but they mimick steriods in the body. The gov't bans them, then they re-alter and put back on the market. Some of the shady supp companies wouldnt suprise you, but if you walk in GNC you would be blown away by how many supps had ncaa or olympic banned substances. There is also a lot of counter marketing in the supp industry with many products marketed as "banned substance free"patdog said:that McGuire, Sosa and Bonds took. Basically, he was a chemical engineer and a bodybuilder and got the idea to analyze the chemical structure of banned steroids and design synthetic substances that would have the key chemical structures to get the same results but also be different enough to not be illegal or even detectible in some cases without new tests.
