Rhule would be fine. Maybe he would have a plan to rejuvinate these really inadequate offensive lines. We can’t seem to get guys who improve much. There has been no plan to react all season.

Spending, at the levels you are talking about, cannot be done by "cutting back on other programs". It is simple math. Cuts wouldn't amount to anything more than rounding error relative to the spending you, and many others, are talking about. Only one sport loses a significant amount of cash flow at Penn State, that is women's basketball, and even that doesn't move the needle. So that is simply a non-starter relative to your stated desires. Anyone with even a basic understanding and awareness of the budgets knows that. Before making such claims, you should tell us all which sports you would cut back, and by how much, and show just how much additional revenue that would generate for football. Are you going to do that?

As far as fund-raising is concerned, do you think that Sandy Barbour has intentionally not tried to raise funds over the last 8 years? Do you think she has not tried hard enough, and if she did the funds would come flowing in? I don't think so, but if you do think that, the first necessary step would be to fire Sandy Barbour. If you want to advocate for that, I'm all ears. But the folks who are responsible for that type of decision, the President and the Board of Trustees, even the Trustees who have been most ardent supporters of spending more on football, have done nothing but applaud Sandy Barbour since she got here.

Sandy and fundraising is like oil and water. We are coming up on 5 years after she announced the facilities master plan. There’s been so little action since then that most people have totally forgotten about it.

I don’t think they have even the first real project drawn up on paper, much less put down any bricks in construction. Sandy is not a fundraiser which begs the question on why she’s still here given that fundraising is critical for any AD.

You will get no argument from me, or from any other reasonably well-informed person, on any of the issues you raise.

Sandy doesn’t u set stand the basics of fundraising. She never goes into the NLC suites at bball, football or hockey to greet people who are funding her program. Every time I’m on the sideline at pregame I never see her interact with the NLC guests including last weekend when I was on the sideline for the Michigan game. I’ve been to her house a few times and while she is a great hostess and throws a good party she doesn’t push for funding.
She relies totally on her underlings to fund raise except the largest of major gift givers. If they want more gifts in the $50,000 to $150,000 range she needs to step up. Though I know she won’t.

Two comments

1. Sandy has no emotional attachment to PSU. It's just a job, albeit a well-paying one.

2. Because of #1 above, she views fundraising as being below her pay grade and/or the responsibility of others.

PSU's Administration is really not much different than Sandy...they are all in it for themselves....the sense of belonging to and being proud of an organization (in this case a university) are distant concepts to these people.
