Anyone sad for Notre Dame?

The committee put the fix in 2 weeks ago. They moved Alabama over Notre Dame after Alabama squeaked by Auburn (and ND blew out Stanford) to give them cover to do exactly what they did. They needed Alabama ahead of ND in case Alabama lost the SEC championship game, and then they could claim that they didn't want to punish Alabama for playing the extra game.

Here is a good tidbit: in the last 3 years there have been 16 conf championship game losers that were ranked in the CFP Top 25 going into that game. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE LOSERS dropped in the next poll, except one. The 2025 Alabama Crimson Tide.

The fix was in.

Yupp...we all know Notre Dame is the victim. Nothing ever goes their way. Everyone is out to get them.

There is a problem when ESPN is in bed with the SEC and ACC, and with the CFP. They have been openly lobbying for Miami and Alabama for weeks. Hell, ESPN's ACC Network put the Miami-ND game on a loop for 2 days on their network this past week. ND got screwed because they have no ties to ESPN, and Miami and Alabama do.

Notre Dame would steamroll Alabama. If you don't think so, you haven't been watching much college football.

The real problem is Tulane and jmu. Tulane lost to ole miss 45-10. Jmu played ONE p4 team and lost by 14.

1st...if anything I watch too much football
2nd..now you support the eye rest? I thought we used resume which is why ND is out...

Notre Dame didn't beat a single decent team. Bama won in Athens and Vandy by 16. OU won by 2 against them. There was zero question they were in.

If anything Texas should be in over Miami not ND. Teams should be rewarded for playing a challenging schedule not what ND does.

Alabama beat Georgia in the regular season. ND doesn't have any quality wins.
Bama also got stomped and had like -3 rushing yards against GA in the SEC Championship. But we all know losing a CCG don’t matter.

Too bad ND couldn’t beat Miami or Texas A&M. Obviously the committee wasn’t impressed with them beating a couple of mediocre teams and a number of cupcakes the rest of the season

Correct and if ND was in a conference and lost in a conference championship game, it wouldn’t matter for them either.

Apparently it is more impressive to get blown out by Florida State and Georgia, and lose to Oklahoma. I guess it is if you play in the SEC.

If they were in the playoff, I'm guessing ND would have been the 3rd or 4th favorite to win it all. Alabama has absolutely no shot. None. Zero.

They beat Georgia and Vandy...quality wins matter.
ND would have been about 8th given they had to open on the road and play 4 games
Alabama is favored against OU so clearly some think they have a shot to at least win a game. ND would not have been favored vs A&M if Bama was out.

Alabama, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tulane, JMU...these teams have no shot at all to win the playoff. None. Notre Dame could win it.

Then they should have beat someone with a pulse during the season when they had a chance. No one cares they blew our Syracuse

If there is one issue that can unite PSU, OSU and scUM fans it is hatred of ND.

Initially I was very put off by the ND decision. Then I heard this morning on XM that ESPN stands to lose $35M by ND bailing on a bowl game.

The more that I think about it maybe it was an appropriate response to the incestuous relationship between ESPN and the SEC/ACC.

They lost their first two games of the season playing a QB who had never taken a snap, and a brand new defensive coordinator. If you watched them this year, you'd see they are a way better team on both sides of the now than they were then.

Should have worked out a deal with the Sun Bowl. That's on CBS.

That's why all the games count. The season doesn't start in November. What about teams that lose key players mid season. Should any losses they have not count as well?

Again...so you want to use the eye test and ignore resume?

Who coined that?
i dunno, but i had a buddy who was going to write a law review article called "judge posner and shrimp teriyaki" critiquing the law and economics movement, because he was at a dinner with posner, where he acted inefficiently by not eating all of his shrimp teriyaki...

C'mon, just like every other team who wins the Big 10 championship, Penn State would go to the playo... Oh Wait!
In an expanded playoff we would have been in
Ohio State being in over us wasn't even a debate. They had a much better resume.
Maybe we should have beat Pitt or Michigan...

Bevacqua? That made me think of an old Tommy Lasorda rant.

Normally I'd be thinking Notre Dame lucked out of another *** whipping, but they would have had a real chance this time. I am kind of glad they don't get their chance. Notre Dame winning it all would suck a lot. Go Just About Anybody Else!!!
