I know that was laced with barrel proof sarcasm. If any team has received favorable media treatment over my lifetime it's them.Yupp...we all know Notre Dame is the victim. Nothing ever goes their way. Everyone is out to get them.

99% of other schools can't do that because they're in a conference without getting a heavy fine.ND has a point and they stood up for it. More than what maybe 95% of other schools would do. I'll take the minority position and give them credit.
Apparently the only conference that has it written in its rules is the Big 12.99% of other schools can't do that because they're in a conference without getting a heavy fine.
I agree with you but they're in a different spot than almost everyone
That's not true...all conferences doApparently the only conference that has it written in its rules is the Big 12.
Prove it.That's not true...all conferences do
Any team that is bowl eligible must go or they will be fined and lose the bowl payout
This does not apply to 5-7 teams if you're under the impression Rutgers FSU Auburn and Temple are why it's "apparently" only the Big XII...just like Baylor wasn't fined.
Lol...so I was right about why you misunderstood and now want me to prove to you why it's trueProve it.
You could have saved yourself some typing by saying you can't prove it.Lol...so I was right about why you misunderstood and now want me to prove to you why it's true
See Marshall being fined last year
See us and countless others not opting out
This has long been discussed/known which is why as soon as someone said the Big XII was getting 1.5M I corrected it before any announcement
My God...you all can't stand that you don't know things. Do your own research and educate yourself if you're unwilling to listen
Why would I Google information I already know? You could have saved yourself some typing by saying you can't prove it.
Does their bowl refusal move the meter for any CFP member? They (ND) are making the connection between bowls and playoffs; not anyone else.ND has a point and they stood up for it. More than what maybe 95% of other schools would do. I'll take the minority position and give them credit.
Yes, they certainly should have beaten Pitt or Michigan. I'm a little less likely to dismiss head-to-head than you. I just couldn't recall another time that a Big 10 champion was excluded from a playoff of any size. I just feel that this refutes the above statement "Play in a league like everyone else and you'll be treated like everyone else".In an expanded playoff we would have been in
Ohio State being in over us wasn't even a debate. They had a much better resume.
Maybe we should have beat Pitt or Michigan...
I get the frustration but I don't understand any logic of an 11-1 Ohio State getting left out for losing by 3 points on the road against a team that finished in the top 5. Especially when they beat Michigan while we lost to them by about 40 (iirc)--and we lost to Pitt.Yes, they certainly should have beaten Pitt or Michigan. Why? Because the previous year the selection committee said conference champs matter. Their words. They then flipped on the same exact issue. Why do we even have a selection committee? Conference champs should be in. There should be a set criteria IN WRITING. Then stick to it.I get the frustration but I don't understand any logic of an 11-1 Ohio State getting left out for losing by 3 points on the road against a team that finished in the top 5. I mean, if the situation was reversed I would have expected the Big Ten to support us.
Of course, this is why I've wanted a large playoff since the early 90s.
They did matter--they just didn't trump everything elseWhy? Because the previous year the selection committee said conference champs matter. Their words. They then flipped on the same exact issue. If you want criteria--we need a superconference set up like any pro league where the top 2-3 teams in each division make the playoffs. Just like all other college sports, it won't work in the current format. The reason college football is a bigger deal is the playoff is so limited--which is why it needs to double in size and match FCS. No one was going to be too angry debating Arizona/Michigan for the last spot.
Four?! And yet lost to two ahead of them. Respect your opinion.I am. They are easily one of the four best teams in the country and are probably playing better than anyone. Fun team to watch. I'm sure the other contenders are glad they got left out.
Why would they? They have their own TV deal and have to split that money with nobody. It would be stupid to
Completely disagree. They gave to Miami because metrics were almost identical, Miami had a better “best win”, Miami beat three common opponents by more pts. than ND did and, alas, the now seemingly meaningless( to data heads) but still clearest determining factor …head to head. Not even tough call. This is a valid argument. I forgot that Virginia would have gotten in as one of the five highest ranked conference champions, and Miami was given an at-large slot.
What are you talking about? In 2015, a 2 loss conf champ didn't make it over a 1-loss runner upThe year before it did trump it.
RememberYeah. Like all the good that the Big Ten has done for Penn State...
I think it’s less the what and more the how.ND has a point and they stood up for it. More than what maybe 95% of other schools would do. I'll take the minority position and give them credit.
Look at 2018. tOSU only had 1-loss.Yes, they certainly should have beaten Pitt or Michigan. I'm a little less likely to dismiss head-to-head than you. I just couldn't recall another time that a Big 10 champion was excluded from a playoff of any size.
I’ll bet you a trillion dollars they cannot win it. They have exactly 0.000000% chance of winning it. Stop your whining and go play in a bowl game.Alabama, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tulane, JMU...these teams have no shot at all to win the playoff. None. Notre Dame could win it.
I heard that $35M figure too. I’m very skeptical it anywhere near accurate. If there is one issue that can unite PSU, OSU and scUM fans it is hatred of ND.
Initially I was very put off by the ND decision. Then I heard this morning on XM that ESPN stands to lose $35M by ND bailing on a bowl game.
The more that I think about it maybe it was an appropriate response to the incestuous relationship between ESPN and the SEC/ACC.
Yes, I read that. My mistake.Baylor shouldn't be fined. They were 5-7 and only in that situation because of others. We'll see though...if they do fine them even better to try to kill the bowls
They're schedule is almost always soft, especially with USC being down.If you want a real laugh look at ND’s 2026 schedule - 9 home games against cupcakes and the toughest road game is Syracuse - they shouldn’t get into the CFP net year even if they go undefeated.
They blew outvSyracusevwhonhad lostbtheirvstarting QB early in the season and blew out Navy when they played without their starting QB.Then they should have beat someone with a pulse during the season when they had a chance. No one cares they blew our Syracuse
