I noticed that they run the Wing T. Not used to seeing anyone besides the military academies run it.

That would be the wishbone Sir...the modern day wishbone is run out of a double-slot formation and known as the flexbone.

of problems defensively. Couple that fact with the letdown after the Auburn loss, we could be looking at our most lopsided defeat of the season. Well...I forgot about LSU. Our second most lopsided loss of the season.

Before the season, I thought we'd beat GT for a couple of reasons - one, GT would still be slowly learning Paul Johnson's offense and two, we'd be able to get a first down sometime before the next Haley's Comet. Now, I believe both of those assumptions are incorrect. Johnson will have his team ready, no doubt about it - as they've shown in their first 3 games of the season. Their defense must be fairly decent, but that's not really required against MSU...

as far as the wingbone or flexbone verbacular...and while it does in corporate a a wing-T play or two, their offense is more option-veer based...and those arent a staple of the wing-T, which is buck sweep and trap based...(i hate the 17'ing buck sweep)

It's more of a philosophical difference as opposed to a formation difference

Guys we have speed in the defensive secondary and that certainly helps with the flexbone or whatever it is...I don't think they will run over us due to our speed on defense but I don't know about our offense, major issues there....

Auburn busted one for about 30. The wing T is all about misdirection. I thought that is why most military academies run it. They don't have big enough linemen so they try and use misdirection to their advantage.

I sat in Lane Stadium on Saturday afternoon and watched GT move the ball on a VT defense that is good, but less-experienced and I don't think any faster than our defense. While GT moved the ball, they didn't score much, because their passing game is non-existent.

Nesbitt is going to give us a hard time, because he's a really good runner. He's a tough guy too, but he got beat up this past weekend and he got hit really hard in the BC game the week before too. Hopefully he's still sore on Saturday. Nesbitt isn't a great passer, but he can throw the deep ball. This doesn't matter too much since they only throw the ball about 6 times a game, but look for Nesbitt to throw at least one pick.

When Auburn ran the option, we covered it well, but GT runs the triple option more effectively than AU and their QB is a lot better ball carrier as well. GT's ol really gets off the ball, but they're a bit weak up the middle and their wide splits allow some penetration by the interior DL. VT's tackles really took it to GT and so did BC's tackles. I think we're in good shape there. Our linebackes and secondary can really cover a lot of ground, too - which is key when trying to stop their attack. As long as we play disciplined assignment football, we should be do just fine slowing down and stopping GT's attack.

On defense, GT is really strong up front, but their LB and secondary are slow. We SHOULD be able to exploit this. If we can run off the edge (big IF seeing as how our coaches are determined to run between the tackles), and if we can get enough time to throw the ball (should be okay), then we should be able to move the ball. Our draw plays should be succesful against GT. VT ate GT alive on the edge and running draws, straight between the tackle runs got stuffed all day. GT's DL is really good, but it's not as good as Auburn's, and their defense as a whole isn't anywhere near as good as Auburn's.

I like us winning a game in the teens. Something like 17-16.
