What a pile of crap. This guy must be from the ATL. Running up the score just so he could break the record....
For one, ATL is a rival you idiot. The last time I checked, there was supposed to be ATL defenders on the field doing their job right? The fact that they couldn't stop them is just as relevant as the fact that they marched down the field and put points on the board.

Not to mention the fact that they were on the 9 yd line and he needed 8 for the record. So what's the receiver to do? Fall down at the one and NO take a knee the rest of the way? There's a reason you're a writer and not a player.

If I'm an editor, this article never sees the light of day. Why would they run with a story that suggests he's not being classy enough in the record when nearly everything that's said here negates the argument?

Either way the move would have been questioned. Questioning Brees' class seems pretty idiotic however. From everything I've seen or heard, he's as genuine and down to earth as they come.

I was expecting a different type of article after reading your first post and then reading the article. To me it still seems as if it's more towards the Saints organization (HC and playcalling) and not Brees himself. Atlanta coaches, players, and fans should be at least a little mad about the Saints running the score up. I would think that most realize the situation though.<div>

I don't see it as whinning. I was asking the same questions because I expected to have to wait for the record with five minutes left and the score what it was. I was glad to see them decide to go for it, and I think it is okay and appropriate. Actually fantastic: what an offensive team! But it does go beyond normal football protocol. If people are thinking about it, somebody needs to also be writing about it.

But to be clear, I was jumping up and down when Drew broke the record with a touchdown pass. What a performance.

it's also a bit of strategy of to go ahead and break the record at the end of a blow out. the fans were already celebrating and ready to give him the reception he needed. the team wanted to get it for him. and now the saints can focus on the panthers and a shot at the #2 seed in the playoffs without thinking about setting the record and on sunday 10 seconds into the game, they won't have to stop play while everyone congratulates brees after his first pass and possibly cause the team to lose focus and blow a shot at a bye.

I am surprised by the article on CBS that indicates the Falcon players are downright pissed. I have trouble believing that, but whatever. It was a big home game for the Saints. The Dome was blistering. They just don't like to lose, but who does?
