the current "M" State with the outline of the state of Mississippi on the right side and the the "M" State in the middle to west of it would look damn good. Think Louisiana Tech logo, except it's Mississippi outlined.

They will be their top of the line uniform, TechFit, and they will sport new silver pants (for road games) see 1986 team for reference.

i don't really care for the big *** stripe down the side of the pants, throw that out and just go back to solid maroon and white pants - like 1998, minus nike logo (b/c we can't use) and they will never use MISS. STATE on the front.

never ever use the current MState logo EVER again. Just be MSU. Who gives a 17 about Michigan State or any other school that has those three letters.

and just pick whatever is cool. They should also get the recruits input so they can be excited about coming to school here.**

The '86 uni's were indeed awesome. I know I've see pics before of them, but I can't find one now. One in particular comes to mind of Don Smith streaking down the sidelines at Neyland in the silver pants and white jersey. There used to be video of that on Youtube, but it's not there anymore, apparently. The best I could find was a black and white picture. Just imagine that the trousers are shiny silver with maroon/white/maroon piping. The headgear is maroon with silver/white/silver piping and the MSJ style logo. This pic is actually from '87, but they were the same.<div>

I guess there are two schools of thought. Being standard and plain, but very recognizable like Alabama and Penn State- or being cutting edge and different like Oregon.

We've had so many uniforms through the years, that we're really at the point of no return and might as well be like Oregon. And the Genespage people like Oregon- I think.

highly doubt I'd like a majority of the uniforms, but if it helps with recruiting...wouldn't bother me at all. Good or bad... it'd draw more attention to us. If anything, it may help differentiate us from TSUN.

Saw @darrenrovell say something along the lines about Michigans deal with Adidas being like 4 times more than Va techs deal with Nike. This has to be directly correlated with how much stuff the players get in terms of gear. I have actually heard from a current players parent and a recruits parent about how Adidas doesn't give as much stuff to the players (at State I guess) as surrounding schools with Nike and it effects recruiting etc etc.. take it for what it's worth. <div>
</div><div>Edit to add figures: Adidas pays Michigan approx. 7 times more (66.5 million for 8 years) than Nike pays Va tech (9.7 million for 8 years)</div>

can buy lots of stuff recruits like. Is a school allowed to buy the extra gear that they are missing out on with their extra cash?

My story on that game....I had two tickets. My buddy, who was living in one of boomerang dorms says sell the tickets, use the money to buy beer and sit in the dorm and watch it on TV. Well I couldn't give the tickets away. So we sat in the stadium and watched it. It was a lopsided game. Then the icing on the cake was we have a chance to score and well.....you can see the result on the YouTube video.

Liked the MSU logo, and preferred it over the other interlocking style that came out later. Don't care for silver at all. But bottom line is, uniform means little compared to how they play. If the kids get an extra edge due to some new uniform style, then let them have it.

think it's time MSU takes the high road and fixes the granny fight it had with Nike? They won not State. Apologize whatever but get Nike in good standing with MSU and vice-versa.

It is no secret why a majority of programs use them. They can go as plain as you want ex. Penn State, Alabama or as wild as you want ex. Oregon. They could design us something freakish especially with the old MSJ logo. I think our Adidas jerseys are okay, but they could be so much better with Nike.

Why did we not just go back to the pre-Nikeinterlocking logowe used from 1986-1996 when we had the logoissue with Nike?Nike'slogo (went to in 96)was a completely different font style/size.No waythey could keep us from using an oldlogo we used for a decade before the deal with them.DidNike actually try toargue that? Did we just say "ok you win Nike, you ownthe entire idea of a putting the letters M-S-U in an interlocking diagonal design?" I don't get it. You can see apic ofeveryhelmet we have ever wornhere to illustrate my point:http://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/

It would be hard to abandon the MState thing now, since marketing has been pushed so far in that direction. Ido wishI knew what the hell actually happened in 2003 or whenever.

Templeton wanted to ditch the MSU logo and go to the M-State logo but he knew it would be a very unpopular decision, to say the least. So he made Nike the scapegoat by blaming the change on them because they had the rights to the MSU logo (because Templeton let them put that into the contract). Somehow, people never really picked up on the fact that Nike only held the rights to that one version of the logo we used in the late 90s. We could have easily gone back to any of the older versions or created a new version of the traditional MSU logo, but that didn't fit Templeton's agenda. In fact, a few years ago someone linked to the USTrademark Office website and we're still listed as the owner of the MSJ logo we used in the Felker era.

Of course they can. And Nike's MSU logo was something freakish special? All it was was a minor tweak to the MSU logo we had already been using. I think our current uniforms are some of the best in college football, other than the white tops. I'm not too crazy about them, but they're definitely no worse than a lot of stuff Nike has out there.

But I don't care for the tweaks we've tried.

To me:
Maroon helmet/ maroon facemask > flat maroon/ white facenask
Black shoes and socks > white shoes and socks
mstate logo w/ silver outline > maroon outline

I love the black jersey but only with white pants.

For the logo people:
MSJ sucked.... there, I said it. I loved the Nike MSU but its gone... let it go. We have grown in to the MState logo. Its taken hold and is on everything we have now. Thankfully we have purged the older Mstate logo that represents Templeton, Croonms, and losing. The newest mstate logo represents (good) change in our athletics. I've personally happily embraced that.
