Some buzz around the office. I feel like 30% of the company is watching. A co-worker gave me an overview of the watch.. waterproof, swim capabilities, Nike..
Still not sure the smartphone companies will overtake the fitness trackers this iteration, but maybe by round 4?

Removing the headphone jack pisses me off. The updated camera that will auto bokeh effect is pretty cool, if it works well.
I agree, I too am just not a fan of doing completely away with the headphone jack. And how much will replacement apple Bluetooth headphones be? $50? $75? More?
They shouldn't have done it at all, but they especially shouldn't have done it if they aren't going to incorporate wireless charging.

Was hoping they would say something about a new MacBook Pro. Will be needing one next year and they haven't updated the damn thing in 3 years. Hopefully I missed it.

So, if BT headphones were free it would still suck. They sound like compressed, wavering garbage. Better to use that POS lightning jack with a bevy of crappy dongles with your charger and $300 headphones. Apple is a real PITA. I hope their customers balk, but they probably won't. Stockholm syndrome.

Eliminating the jack now is the smart move. It helps seals the phone for water resistance (Samsung should try it) and frees up space for the speakers, etc. And they were smart to take heat for it now instead of with next year's 10th anniversary model.
The EarPods look goofy as hell - but they're a 1.0. The Beats versions aren't as bad, IMO.
The watch updates are great all around - especially dropping the Edition versions and letting Hermes steer that market for them.

After everything I've read think I'm going to wait for the fancy 10 year anniversary one that's coming out next year, which will supposedly be very different.

Point taken, but not a true comparison. This is more floppy drive -> Zip drive than it is floppy drive -> CD-ROM. It's still just a thing that you stick in your ears except now you can't do other things like charge while you're listening. Why take away a function to very slightly improve another?
During the presentation they made it a point to point out that in the frenzy to make phones better with every iteration there is a need for space. And the plug in was taking up valuable space.

Apple has a market. Android has a market. The newest, better thing is not magically pulling millions of people one way or another. I'm not sure what the future thing is that will sway a majority of the market (obviously) but this isn't it.

That will be on the 9s. Gotta take baby steps Mash. The fleshlight phone version with splat screens will arrive first in the new 8s in 2018.
Think it's pretty clear that Apple's future thing is an entire lifestyle including autonomous cars and houses. Don't think Samsung is going to be able to compete with that.

You can't listen and charge while listening to wired headphones. Wireless headphones are clearly the future, you'll get there someday with the rest of us. Be patient.
