Yes if you have an ipad or MAC computer that has airplay. It will not play on Apple tv without one of these.

HailState TV thru

your AppleTv is the greatest invention ever for college baseball. That combined with my MLB.tv subscription, Fox Soccer 2 Go,NetFlix, and iTunes pretty much make me tell Comcast to suck it. God I hate that "company."

Somewhat related - will it work on PS3 this year?

I watched it online on PS3, but when they went HD, it wouldn't work anymore. I think PS3 didn't have the right plugin or something. Anyone know anything about that?

/may have to pony up for the apple tv.

I borrowed an HDMI adapter for my iPad to watch the game yesterday on my HDTV. I had large black bars all the way around the picture. I did a Zoom on my TV, and it helped. There were only small bars all the way around after that. Can anyone tell me if this will look the same using Apple TV, or if it will translate better? Thanks

With Apple TV

it appears as if you were watching a station on your cable provider's network. It's pretty crisp, for me, at least.

Roku or Apple

Is Roku or Apple the best option for streaming to the TV? Or is there a better option than either of these?

I would love to get rid of Comcast - at least until football season. All family members have Iphones or Ipads, so I would think Apple TV is the best option but I read some reviews online that say Roku is better.

Any advice is appreciated

Apple TV works just as if you're watching Directv. Jaqueax...get Directv, you'll love the sports packages etc. I've watched every baseball game State has played in baseball this year with the exception of this past weekend as we were in the LFL.

If your family has apple devices, you can't go wrong with Apple TV. Roku doesn't let you stream from a device. The only thing that allows it to compete with Apple TV is their "app store".

Apple TV has fewer apps built in, but the AirPlay more than makes up for that. The iTunes streaming makes me like Apple TV MUCH better, but all my wife does is watch Netflix with either so she likes both.

FWIW, we wanted an Apple TV upstairs and when I went to get one they were sold out. I got a Roku just to try it out, since it was on sale. It works fine for what we use it for (mainly Netflix, which both products offer)...

Is there a way to view airplay in widescreen view. The few times I've tried it, I've only been able to view in a normal view, which has the black bars on each side. Also, the picture quality was pretty poor.

...you can switch your phone to landscape mode and it does show up wider.

Mirroring has that problem, but airplay is usually in HD and fills up the whole screen for me.

This is confusing to me. So, are you saying that if I mirror my iPad to an Apple TV using airplay, that it will or will not fill up the whole HDTV screen?

Mirroring and Airplay are two different things. Mirroring is having whatever shows up on your iPad/Phone to simultaneously show up on the screen. AirPlay is a feature built into some apps (youtube, Netflix, WatchESPN) that seamlessly streams to the Apple TV box. You use mirroring as a workaround for apps that don't have AirPlay. With airplay, the screen on your portable device goes dark and says "This is playing on your apple TV" and you use the remote for everything.

PS... HBOGo has AirPlay now, which means thousands of free movies

and about every TV series they've ever had. That came out last week I think.

So, to get rid of Comcast I need to buy an Apple TV and digital cable for each TV. I'll be limited to sports on the big 3. Can I get access to ESPN3 thru my AT&T Uverse internet acct?
