Appomattox vs. Giles

So Im hearing #35 is ready and it was a bruise instead of a severe injury. Well that is great news and Im happy for him. Wish Appo was as fortunate with Tre Walker.
Heard today that Chapman was practicing. Collar bone was not broke. But heard his play will probably be limited.
Hoping the best for him but this might not be game he wants to play in hurt , appo will stick you hard and a lot of them , sure they haven't seen a defense that will hit them like appo Friday nite !!
I heard otherwise today but who knows. If he can go he is an asset on both sides of the ball. Nevertheless unless Appo is less of a team than I think, Giles has to play a perfect game and have some help from Appo. We could and maybe should be undefeated right now. All were close games lost in the last few minutes of the game.
I think they could compete in 4A but Dinwiddie would destroy them
It really doesnt matter, I spoke with D coach other day and he said he will be be prepared either way. That is just it, you have to prepare your guys for anything. It does not matter if Barry Sanders was back there. You have to prepare for the unpredictability. I was speaking to a source from Giles on Monday and he said, yall have a backup that was the starter in beginning of season anyways. So....it wont be like you are not prepared to play us. Yall played 11 games of practice just like we have and may the best team win (Minus the Horn, had to throw that in there).
Any other year, I would be planning a trip to Appo to watch my Spartans, but I have dual allegiances. Madison will be playing their old Skyline District rivals Stuarts Draft and will need all the support they can get.
Will WNRV be broadcasting the game? Do they normally do so for away games? If so, I may be able to listen to the Appo-Giles game from Stuarts Draft. If not, will one of you live blog the game?

I do read it late in season and during playoffs. I dont have all that time to be beating up these boards all day. I will not be creating an account so I will answer Futbolking here.

I havent had one conversation with a person in the community, coach, administrator or board member saying that we are looking on to the states. Its all good, do what you have to do to get yall fired up and if that is to create lies about Appomattox (and Dan River) fans, so be it. Carry on with your shenanigans.

Well you are partially correct. The community was embarrassed 2 years ago by the lack of support in a home field advantage 1st round playoff game. We had maybe 100 people at that game and it still hurts to see our boys come out that locker room with their heads held down with the lack of support the fans gave them. I think they were a bit intimidated by the crowd that Lee brought. Thanks to social media and the community feeling bad about themselves, this created the #PO1 mantra and community showed up strong all last season. It was a blessing in disguise and that is the way I like to look at it. That was the last game Appo loss. I dont get caught up in that winning streak because the championship is what a team is to look forward to obtaining (year in and year out). We bring the community to all our games now! The stadium and fence line is packed every game. So I hope Giles don’t think we aren’t going to be just as equally balanced on fan support. We filled up Salem and Appomattox was a ghost town that day last year.

UPDATE ON PARKING: They finally secured the old Thomasville parking lot. Its a big out of business factory soon as you come up the ramp as you come into Appomattox if you coming 460 East (you cant miss that big white building on your right). We used it for several games last year.

I just got the word that ACHS will be able to use the Thomasville parking lot for overflow/satellite parking for the regional game Friday Nov. 18th against Giles. Details about the shuttle are below.
ACHS will also be offering satellite parking and a free shuttle bus to and from the game on Friday. The overflow/satellite parking will be located at the Old Thomasville Plant on Founders Lane. The shuttle will start bringing people to the game around 5:30 p.m. and will continue to shuttle people to the game until approximately 7:30 p.m. (possibly longer if needed). The shuttle will begin to bring people back to the satellite parking about mid-way through the 4thquarter of the game and will continue until approximately one-half hour after the game is completed(possibly longer if needed).

As far as this year’s team and last year’s team being the best. I think both are powerhouse teams and both have flaws (just as any team). Last year’s team had them and this year’s team has them, I think its safe to say, I think both teams are equally balanced now late in the season. Teams just haven’t found a way to capitalize on them flaws in the last 2 years. I bet if you ask Coach Smith, “How can you beat Appomattox?” He could rattle off some off ways to beat Appomattox. Just like @VolNation85 said, I think the O caught up with the D throughout the season. O was shaky in beginning of season, just like last year’s team started off 1st 2 games slow.
Our kicker is a MONSTER! Dude has shown so much growth in last few years. I want to add to that. Everyone wants to give the Kicker all the credit. We have a D1 Long Snapper (Marshall U and few others, but undecided) and the holder has to sit it down correctly. I look at it like this, we have ‘a great kicking unit.’ Our kicker will have some looks from D1 as well for kicking and punting, but he probably already has. I know he had a visit to VA Tech a few weeks back. He has VA Tech’s former punter helping him out with punting as well. I guarantee more come in to see this kid. He is a great asset to the Raider Nation.
All of you guys saying that this year’s team is better than last year’s team, be careful what you are saying. Just in case you missed the memo, WE HAVE NOT LIFTED UP A STATES TROPHY YET?!!! There are a lot of great teams out there looking for same trophy we got our eye on. Yall going to be eating a lot of humble pie if we dont win states, but not this guy.

I saw what you said about the horn as well @eh31, Im done talking about the horn. Its not about being "skeered." Im just warning you guys that Appo is not going to allow that horn in the stadium to be blown all night. I have read several times on here that there are Giles fans that even get annoyed about it. Anyways....there will be a horn monitored by our staff on the field that only gets blown on scores (TDs, FGs, Xpts). Bring all the rocks in jugs, noisemakers, small airhorns cans, noise crackers, thunder sticks, cowbells ya want. Stomp the stands and clap excessively if you would like. Im cool with all that, bring it and I hope we can create a great atmosphere. Im actually beyond hype about the game.
The fact that you're still talking about it, 2 years later, and already protesting Giles' train horn proves my point don't you think?
You would also be wise to copy and paste these clips in context. My quote was in response to a Giles poster referring to your "guarantee" that Giles' horn wouldn't be allowed in the stadium, let alone blown.
Lee High, Richlands, Gate City and others bring their inflatables, bands, and train horn(Lee) to Union home games. Their bands play pre-game shows.
It's REALLY not a big deal.
As for the train horn thing - I thought it was stupid when Giles complained about it earlier in the season about glenvar and I think it's stupid that it's an issue now. I hope they bring it and blow it and get told to stop because that's going to be some juicy reading Saturday morning.

Still won't be enough for Giles come Friday. I give Richlands or Goochland the best shot to beat Appomattox. Richlands because of John Luke-Asbury and that passing attack. Richlands is difficult to match up with their receivers and Ashbury is probably the best passer in the state. Goochland has a championship caliber defense that can force turnovers and keep them in it. Giles can't rely on passing and they won't beat that team running the single wing the inside will collapse and the speed on the edge will show. Wish the Spartans the best and hope it's a good game. I will be there I've always wanted to see Giles up close. Heard so much about the way they set blocks.
Yeah this sound like somebody want to have something to put on the lockeroom wall because im pretty sure no one is looking pass any teams at this point of the year. DR is focous on Union only i can promise you that
I feel a bit more comfortable on VA Preps. At least I have some 434, NOVA, and Eastern VA here. Little bit more balanced. As far as the lurking? Man, do you know how many people tell me they just watch these boards and never post. I met 3 just this week.
Then why take out of context quotes from that site and post them here to cause a stink?
I post on both sites, this one gives me more perspective on teams outside of SWVA and that one because it's discussion from my area. If you wanna address a point made on those boards, its really only fair to sign up and post there to get the full spectrum and see what everyone thinks (hint--everyone has Appo as a big favorite to repeat) or at least link the thread so people can see no one was bashing Appo/DR.
WNRV (990 AM) will go to the pregame about 15 till. It's streamed, so shouldn't be a problem. They do have broadcast problems, as you probably know, breaking up from time to time.
Im done with all boards. This will be my official good bye. Its been good meeting some of you guys in person. Hopefully there will be another Appomattox person come on here to give you better assessments of teams in the area from 434. I have had many people say they enjoy reading my comments on here but when I get a parent text me blasting me for giving his son props, compliments & praise on a message board. Im done! Come on now, planned on meeting so we going to. I have also meet a lot of fans from other teams on the boards. Some I have become good friends with. Don't take things personal, It's good to have passion for your team.
I think its great to support your team. Advocate does and does it respectfully from what I've read. Not sure why he's worried so much about the horn though. It adds to the game just like the turkey gobble at VT and the panther growl at the Panther's games. I've been to a lot of games and I've never heard the horn blow when either team is at the line calling signals. The horn has yet to score a TD, make a tackle or block, etc.
Who am I going to talk to about Appo running up the score on Chatham now that you supposedly done.....
I can't see how Appo doesn't blow this open. I would say Appo will win by at least 17. As for the comment about them winning 3A AND 4A. I would agree to an extent. They could definitely push in both of those, but as it was stated above, I don't think they could beat Dinwiddie in 4A, but I would pick them over any 3A school. I am anxious to see how their speed matches up with Graham's speed.
Boy, with all this talk about how invincible Appo is, I would absolutely love to see Giles bounce them in the second round. I was happy to see them win state last year. It was a great story for all that community went through. But this is 2016 and there are still over a dozen teams that aren't going to roll over for anyone. Giles has played and beaten bigger and better teams many times before. We aint skeered.
No one from Appomattox is looking past this game. We have great respect for the Giles program and football heritage. Well coached and tough kids.We also know there are a lot of other great teams out there still playing just like us and Giles and you are also right; this is 2016 -different team, different competition.

I certainly can see how Appo DOES NOT blow it open. They are playing.........Giles. Enough said there. As for Appo's speed and Graham's speed and how Appo's speed matches up, you should be anxious. Appo is bigger than Graham and may be a better football team, but not faster. If Appo thinks they can run outside on Graham or get the corner, they can forget about it. With that written, Appo and Graham should not really be in the discussion. Both teams have tall tests tonight and then, they would each have to win 2 more games prior to meeting in Salem. Way to many things can happen by then. Neither team may be there, or one, or possibly both, but that's way to far away, especially when you have Richlands, Union, Dan River, Goochland, and Stuarts Draft in the mix......in addition to Giles and Martinsville, of which both are very good.
Well, I guess we ( Richlands or Glenvar ) can save our travel time and money since it has already been decided. We can just stay home now and get ready for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Basketball season !
