Are Florida's fans spoiled or are they on to something?

Listening to Rival's Radio this morning, an apparent regular Florida fan caller was discussing how boring their offense has been under Mullen. From listening to the host and caller talk, it seemed that a good many of them are happy he is gone. He used the fact that they lost to teams they should not have each of the last few years, placing that blame on the "unimaginative offense". He said, up until this year Tebow did not have hot reads because of Mullen ( I presume they will with the new coordinator).

What are the thoughts around here? Its obvious we are all pumped because of what Mullen has done to date, but is there something to the Gator fans opinion? I point to them being spoiled, but what the hell do I know.

however, I realize the spring game was more of a show than anything .. we threw way more than I expect us to in the regular season. tim tebow is their best athlete, therefore one would want to have the ball in his each as much as possible, and being that he's quarterback, it means that some of the plays would seem a little mundane .. snap, look for a hole, plow forth a few yards. snap, roll out to look for receiver, nothing, run it up for a few more yards, etc

THEY WON THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP .. I WOULDN'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT WE DID ON OFFENSE IF WE WERE AT THAT LEVEL

Hard to tell - he rode Harvin and Tebow hard, but when you have great players, that's what you do. Tebow's hot read was probably "tuck and run". So while unimaginative maybe, it was surely effective most of the time.

I'm sure they think they should not have lost to OM, but I do know at cruch time on 2nd and 3rd down Mullen called two plays that had guys wide open that Tebow just missed. I did hate the 4th down call there, but you could argue having him in the shotgun gave him a better look for a gab and time to get a head of steam.

I know a couple of FL fans as well that we're disappointed to see him go, but guess we'll see if our offense is much better and if their's goes up or down this year.

I particulary like the uninspired 49 points against the No. 6 Georgia or the 45 lackluster points against No. 20 Florida State or maybe the completely brain dead 56 points against No. 25 South Carolina. I was disappointed they only scored 70 against the Citadel (49 in the first half and only 21 in the second what a pathetic effort at moving the football)

is the equivalent of an American complaining about "boring" menu selections at chain restaurants in front of an Ethiopian bushman. It's criminal.

Tebow right, Tebow left worked well in every game except for one for them last year, so why "get creative?" He'll need to adapt and adjust at State based on your personnel, namely your lack of a Tebow, but he seems very aware of that. Some of their older fans may long for the days of the fun and gun for its entertainment value, but their complaints are simply a product of not having that whole "losing" thing to ***** about, so they have to find something.

I would think it would be hard for an unimaginative offense to score over 40 points per game. The only thing that concerns me slightly about Mullen is that he's been with Meyer his entire career. How much of the offensive success is because of Meyer and how much is because of Mullen? I guess we'll find out.

If we're winning running QB sneaks, who cares?

As far as what's exciting- it's all in the eye of the beholder. Some people say the wishbone was awesome and fun. Some say the spread. Some even prefer the WCO. I think a lot of the creativity comes down to the coach. You could use the I-formation all game and run gadget plays from time to time and I would consider that to be creative.

I am not agreeing with them. If that offense is boring, give me boring. If that offense is boring, we have been in a block hole, of hellish boredom that no one should ever be subjected to. I am just curious of others opinions on this.

Honestly, an MSU board is probably the worst place to discuss this.

How in the hell can someone complain about a "boring" offense when said team averages 44 points per game?

Spoiled? Absolutely. They just have unrealistic expectations of complete perfection.

I always had to imagine they were scoring points because so often they weren't. I guess they're upset there weren't as many play action sacks or they didn't get to see Tebow chase down very many DBs after picks. Or perhaps they're disappointed in the lack of statue of liberty and hook and ladder plays.

Would have been 31 if not for a botched extra point try. I don't think I'd be bitching about the offense in that situation.

That's the only question I had with Florida's offense the past 2 years really when we played them. They had a good number of offensive weapons including quality RBs and WRs and the other waterbugs (Demps, Rainey, James), but they put almost all their offense on Tebow and Harvin, at least when we played them. It worked, because they're both great players, but if their offense was like that more often than not, I could see someone complaining about lack of creativity.

I really think they started using more of their weapons offensively after they played us this past year. They got Demps, Rainey, and James more involved after we beat them. We'll see how Mullen does. I'm sure you'll be a poor man's Florida offensively, simply because you'll never have the athletes they have offensively, no one really does. I can guarantee that even if Mullen turns out to be a flop, you'll be better offensively than you were the last 5 years.

Make the watch last year's MSU-Auburn game and get back to us. 17 'em, just 17 'em.

Edited to add: **** like this makes me want to stab them in the eye with an ice-pick.
