I just came from genespage, where I haven't been in about a year, just to see if there was any coaching rumor that I hadn't heard anywhere else, and lo and behold, I see these names being mentioned as coaches we should seriously consider:

Jeff Bower
Steve Campbell
Kent Austin

Sadly, this train of thought probably represents the majority of our fanbase.

I believe Greg Byrne is a SixPack-kinda-guy. I don't think he has the sheepish tendencies as those do over there on Swan Lake. He has the real desire for success. The sheep are like LT. He wants to win and he understands what needs to be done to be successful.

I just don't see him hiring nothing but the best.

a former UM player, and some other guy I've never heard of... If we get down to this list it will not be good...still better than the Croom trainwreck but not much better.

...The same people who were dead set against us hiring Dan Mcdonald as a baseball coach because of his "Ole Miss ties" (said ties were strictly that he coached there for a few years) are now throwing around Kent Austin to head up the football program? I see.

The point is he's been an SEC coordinator for one year and he's coaching where he played and it's utterly ridiculous to suggest that he should be seriously considered for our job. Just like the other two.

and maybe our OL coach, & now he is HC @ MGCCC. Also think he was the MTSU OC for a while.

Granted, it was at Temple, but the fact is the jump from Div. II to Div. I-A, much less the SEC, is way too big to take in one step.

Bobby Wallace's jump from North Alabama >>> Jim Tressell's jump from Youngstown St. to Ohio St.

Edited again to add that Temple has gone from 0-11 in Wallace's last season there to 1-11, 4-8, and 5-7 in the past 3 years.

who were suggesting Lance Pogue on Veazey's blog. Same mentality that got us into this train wreck in the first place - aim low and work your way up if necessary. Pogue's a great coach, but c'mon.
