They said the fire department is having a hard time controlling the fire and that it's continuing to spread.

Winds should stay calm most of the day, which should help a little with preventing fires from jumping. But you never know. 1 slight gust could be enough to help it jump.

for multicomplex buildings or subdivisions unless they have sprinkler systems. Learn a lesson.

Talked to a resident of Apt.B....she told me that she had talked to maintenance and office staff numerous times about electrical problems in her apartment. She claimed that maintenance personnel told her that some of the issues were due to the fire in Apt.A in 2003. They told her that it would be too costly for them to tear down the walls and check all of the electrical lines.

Needless to say, her dad was already there, waiting for someone to give him a cause of fire. He said that he would be there everyday until someone gave him some answers.

I have a feeling there will be a "candle left burning" ruling on this.

I live in one of the newer apt complexes in Starkville and we have sprinkler systems throughout our buildings hallways and in every room.

It was Campus Trails...unless it's Campus Trails at the Commons or something, you people are mistaken but someone did tell me today someone had been complaining to maintenance for about a week saying that an electrical outlet will get really hot for no reason sometimes...so I dunno if that caused the fire or not, but it sounds fishy.

i called it the Commons because what I know it as, and probably 95% of the folks on this board. didn't know it was a different name until today.

my place is in the county and has sprinklers (could be just the company thought it was a good idea)...but im pretty sure that both have new laws requiring them...there might be a grandfather clause within both the city and county

if a structure is over 3500 square feet, it is required to be sprinkled.. and houses 4500+ must be sprinkled, too. if starkville doesn't require something similar for new construction they sure as hell should from now on.

I think the city has a prohibition on construction of new multi-family apartment complexes.
They are cheap, look like ****, have all sorts of problems, burn down easily, and there is always a "better" one being built down the road.
