just like Tennessee Dooley'd their football hire just to try and save a signing class? I hope not. I'd much rather wait as long as it takes to get a GREAT hire. Hell make Phil the interim until we can get an obvious "highering up" from Stansbury. Dipshit Dooley is not obviously a step above Rick so if we hire this guy it's because we feel like its a must to hire someone before we lose Pollard. If we can't get a homerun hire right now I'd rather Stricklin just name Phil the interim till he can get a homerun hire.

When's the best time then to hire a coach, genius? Just put it off til next year when 20+ programs could be looking for a coach? Get out of here with that Phil Cunningham ********. How about no. Dooley is much better than that clown.

trust Stricklin will make the right hire.

So - we let Cunningham just become HC and hire a new coach next season?

isn't in your top 20 names then you have settled. Dipshit Dooley is a 17ing disappointing hire if I ever saw one.

then he is tied to him. So if Dooley fails then Stricklin will get canned too. I watched this exact scenario unfold at Tennessee just a couple of years ago. Phil atleast knows the players and has connections to the signees and understands how everything has been run. He is named "interim" head coach and that buys Stricklin significant more time in order to hire someone that everyone will be excited about. MSU can pay $2 million a year!! That is a lot of 17ing money. So yes I would rather have Phil 17ing Cunningham than Dipshit Dooley.

Because Pearl cheated like no other and got caught.

Add to that the Lane Kiffen debacle and the Dooley hire - he wasn't well liked after that.

You are really reaching.

That's one of the dumbest things I've seen. Stricklin has a good track record of hiring coaches. If he's hiring Dooley, it's because he likes him better than several of the other names that have been mentioned.

This is what 30 years of being comfortable with LT/Williams/ Stansbury gets you. MSU as a program doesn't have enough hiring/firing of coaches experience for fans to overcome stupidity like this. So you think Stricklin's job is tied to the success of this one job? Get real.

Certainly none in the Byrne/Stricklin era.<div>
</div><div>Why is everyone all of a sudden so paranoid? We finally got what we all wanted and it didn't take a week before everything pussed out and wished we didn't...</div><div>
</div><div>There's no evidence that Stricklin won't make a good hire.</div>

Jeremy Foley is one of the most respected ADs in the nation and he hired Ron Zook. It happens sometimes.

That would be like firing an otherwise successful coach for losing one game.

Whose top 20 names? Dawg61's? If that's the case, who gives a damn? You (nor I) have any idea where Dooley or anyone else ranks on Scott and the search firm's list. <div>
</div><div>And the idea of delaying a coaching search for any appreciable amount of time because Dawg61 isn't wowed by the names leaking out is beyond idiotic.</div>
