Are we in a catch 22 with our basketball program?

Part of me wants to win out and play in the NCAA tourney to give me something to be interested in the next few weeks but the other part wants to get rid of Stansbury, and I don't think that's going to happen unless we miss the tourney. The rational thing to do would be to determine what's best for theprogramlong term. At this point, I think a coaching change is necessary, even if we struggle the first couple of years with a new coach. What a lot of people do not realize is that most in-state players want to play for MSU due to our facilities and fan support. Why would a player want to play for Ole Miss or USM when they have sub-parfacilitiesand little support? So I don't think losing Stansbury will hurt as much as many on here are claiming.

If you think like that go be a bama fan. It's easy to be one of them. That's why they have so many side walk graduates.

Either you pull for MSU to win, or find another 17ing school to pull for. Hoping your team loses so maybe the coach will be fired is selfish and ignorant.

I'm ready for a change but I want us to make the tourney. I deal with the current so I want to make the tourney.

but in my life I've come to accept that anything can happen. Now is all that matters. So let's win now.

We will make the tourney and the issues will be corrected from this team and we will win over 20 again next year. Coach will get to keep posting because he has stated if we make the dance , he still gets to give us his yearly tirade. Gray will give us a good point guard and our frontline will be good with Hood, Kris, and Pollard. I doubt our defense can be any worse and no, I don't think Sidney will behere next year. There is no way in hell our AD can fire a coach who has over 20 wins, makes the dance, and has as many wins as Stans. ***** all you want to, it isn't going to happen and the sooner you start pulling for MSU the happier you will be.

...before the invention of the Internet, nobody in real life would start a discussion over whether it's best to miss the NCAA tournament so our rascal of a coach can get what's coming to him.

I can remember back to those pre-Internet days when pulling for State to make the NCAA tournament didn't come with a bunch of absurd caveats attached.

But that was then. This is now.

Yeah, I want Stans gone but I want State to do well and go to the NCAA more. Mutually exclusive events. It'll be wonderful if both of them can happen.

If we are one and done in thetourneyand have to put up with Stansbury's issues yet another season I will feel like we are spinning our wheels. And coach is right, same BS year after year just different issues and people involved.

..if there is an idividual that stands to offer a fair & balanced assessment of Stansbury, it's coach.

So definitely go with coach's non-partisan, objective assessment.

we just happen to agree. However, this season is a lot like the 2008 football season, looking back I wanted to beat Ole Miss but at the same time I'm glad they skull drug us otherwise we wouldn't be in the position we are now in football. Sometimes it's hard to see theforestfor the trees!

there is a scenario where Stansbury gets fired this year, regardless of what happens with any postseason tournament. The only way I see him keeping his job at this point is winning multiple games in the tourney, and I still don't think that it's a given that he would return..this 5 game skid is as bad as any stans has had in his tenure, and with the team he had this year, there is no reason in the world we should have had a worse conference record than last year's team..and I think he will ultimately pay the price for that..

No matter if Croom had won that 2008 egg bowl, he would have needed to be fired, and if Byrne is half the person we've made him to be, he would have done exactly that.

My thinking is that wanting us to lose, to make the right decision easier is bullsht. I want us to win and our AD to make the decision he is supposed to inspite of some last minute positive of winning a few games means. The amount of money that our coach makes to win PRESUPPOSES he understands that being stagnant in regard to post season success is unacceptable.
