Are we wearing black tonight?

Surely not since that’s one of their colors. That’d just be dumb.

Would it be dumb to wear their color, or would it be dumb to get away from what we’ve consistently worn just because it’s someone else’s color?

I dont know how consistently we’ve worn black on the third game. But if that’s the routine, I don’t think you change that just because Vandy wears black.

ETA: Yes, @hailstatebb tweeted we’re in all black tonight.

Doesn’t matter to me that it’s what they wear on Sundays. A uni that isn’t part of our colors is weird. Wear the colors with pride. Why wear our colors at all? They want a black uni? Then at least make sure maroon is decently represented as well. It’s not hard to do. It’s not an unreasonable request.

You’re right. There’s nothing wrong with wearing unis the color of our opponents when they’re not our colors. Maybe we could just change our mascot on a daily basis, too. “MSU ‘Dores” would be an interesting twist for our Sunday uniforms.

Well, now you've gone from semi-ridiculous to downright ridiculous.

You lost me. Ridiculous how? In stating that using colors other than our own is no different than using a mascot not our own OR facetiously agreeing with you?

The analogy breaks down when you suggestwe would change our mascot because we we’re playing Vandy, instead of being a coincidence.

Not to use Ole Miss to justify our decisions, but they have an established practice of wearing powder blue on Sundays. You think they would deviate from that if they were hosting North Carolina?
By the way, that’s not one of their colors but I would guess players like it a lot. Fans also have embraced it in a big way.

Oh the analogy is quite strong. Using colors not our own is no different than using a mascot not our own. You’re kissing the point of the black unis today. I’m not for using it today, Sunday, Wednesday, or any day regardless of who our opponent is unless it’s a special occasion. Unless there’s something significant to black on Sunday that I’m not aware of. I’m done defending the position. I won’t change my mind that wearing black is no different than wearing “Platypuses” on our unis.
