And I'm not happy about it.

I think the more intriguing question would be is can we get the 40K that Mullen has stated repeatedly that he wants in attendance. I remember him mentioning this when he was first hired, then last night at the even in Jackson, he made no bones about it. He plans to have all the top 2010 recruits there and he wants 40K in the stadium.

My guess would be no, but I think we can still have a very respectable crowd. I'm thinking more like 30K so long as the weather is good:
15K - Diehard fans
10K - Students
5K - Random Fans

I saw Coach Hudspeth in Grenada last week at my daughters basketball game. His daughter lives here too. He said that they are hoping to pull at least 20K for the game. He said that there will be many recruits at the game. He made a point of asking how can we (MSU) compete for recruits when we only have 5K (maybe) at a game when Alabama has 90K and even Ole Piss has 40K? I will be there and I hope that many others will be too. By the way, he did tell me to get ready for the no-huddle. He also stated that he really likes Tyson Lee and thinks that we can do some special things this year.

is usually a big weekend anyway. But they have to market it better this year.

Set up the kid zone. Encourage tailgating. Esp in the Junction. Have a big name band play on the drill field that night after the game, or something like that. Get the Greeks to have an alumni day that day. Get the word out to high schools to reward student athletes by taking a busload of them up. Get the various degree programs to host alumni that day. Get former players back by having a reunion. Get the word out about the BBQ contest. Some people, with no connection to State live for that ****.

They got to make it a big time event. Some how.

The sad thing is though, I feel like there will be LOTS of people in town for the weekend that do just that. I really can't think of a single reason to skip the game if you're in The Jewel. You'll still be able to make the baseball games, drink plenty of beer, eat plenty of food, and enjoy all of the goings-on around town (I think there's some sort of Cotton District festival?). So why in the hell would one choose NOT to go to the game?

Then the entire weekend could be centered around football? We could make it like a game day, with the kid's zone, maybe a parade around campus, meet and greet with former lettermen, etc.

It always seemed like a rush to get from Scott back to Dudy-Noble in order to get a good seat. I think eliminating the baseball game would make it more enjoyable for the average family. Also, it would bring fans and cash to the Jewel in an otherwise slow weekend.

What do you think about that? Obviously, it should be planned around an away game at SC, Florida, or someplace the average local fan won't travel. I understand you don't want to pull support from baseball.

It's basically just a scrimmage in the stadium.

Football is king. It's in March/April, the saddest time of life for a football fan. You try to read anything you can on the team, which isn't much. The weather is comparable to what you'll find in September, early October. It's a perfect storm.

As it is, my priority is always the weekend series, and if I miss the spring game, so what. But, if the weekend was centered totally around the team, with an opportunity to see things that you normally don't (locker rooms, suites, club level, M-Club, etc.), it could be a great revenue generator.

If you had enough to do, and it was orchestrated right, I would pay $10+ for the Spring game and it's activities. On a baseball weekend, probably not.

I live in Oxford. You are still a damn student at UM. I didn't even know we had a Spring Game then. If you live away from Oxford in about 15 years i imagine the Spring Game might mean more. Getting back to Oxford and pretending to be what you still are doesn't take much of a reason. Pretending there is a cool FB game going on helps justify it for some.
