He says that she was about to sign a contract for $700k/year but the next day Kornheiser made fun of her looking like an idiot (rightfully so) and then ESPN gave in and gave her $1.2M. They didn't actually say "$1.2M/year" but they had already said the $700k WAS per year and that this caused her to get $500k more.
