We also think the Crimson Tide could get 6-9 Kenny Walker from Jacksonville (Ribault) Fla., and 6-2 Derrick Zimmerman from Gossman (H.S.) La., both of whom are expected to make official visits to Tuscaloosa, Ala. this weekend. Walker's top three are Alabama, Florida State, and South Florida. Zimmerman also likes Tulane, Clemson, and Texas. We also think Alabama will right there with 6-5 Antonio Jackson from Butler County (JC) Kan., who is the No. 1 ranked junior college combo guard in the nation. However, we don't think he's going to do anything until spring.</p>
Mississippi State finally has gotten 6-7 Alonzo Lane from Canton (H.S.) Miss., who ranks No. 90, to recommit. If you will recall, he committed to the Bulldogs last spring, but then changed his mind, because he wanted to go through the recruiting process. With Lane in the fold, Mississippi State now has the two best players in the state. Last week they also got 6-11 Jonathan Bender from Picayune (H.S.) Miss., who ranks No. 12 nationally, but has as much potential and talent as anybody in the senior class. The Bulldogs also landed 6-4 Trey Sanders from Jackson (Jim Hill) Miss., who is a legitimate top 150 player nationally.</p>
Coming on the heels of two excellent recruiting classes the previous two years, coach Rick Stansbury appears to be done recruiting this year, unless they can land another quality big guy. However, the Bulldogs are already the heavy favorite for 6-9 junior Darius Rice from Jackson (Lanier) Miss., who promises to be the one of the two best players in the state next year, as well as a top 40 player nationally. The other top junior in the state - 6-7 junior Justin Reed from Jackson (Provine) Miss. - appears to be a lock for Ole Miss, but our sources tell us that Mississippi State plans on at least making it interesting.</p>
