If we get back to playing mistake-free football and can run effectively then we have a shot. Mentally, we were not ready to play tonight. We have to get our focus back on playing football or they walk the dog on us.

I like our chances at home against Arkansas MUCH better than I liked our chance in Tuscaloosa. Alabama's only weakness on defense was against the pass, and we're below average throwing the ball against anyone not named Memphis. Our entire offense is based on the fact that we can do a really good job of running the ball and controlling the clock, even when our opponents know that's what we're going to do. We never had much of a chance to do that against Bama, and the score results.

However, Arkansas is a very poor defensive team. And if we game-plan right, execute well, and minimize turnovers, we're going to have a chance to score a lot of points Saturday. Now granted, with Ryan Mallet playing against our porous secondary, they'll score a lot as well. But we've got a real chance to win a 35-31 type ballgame or something in that range if we play well.

We can use the Florida gameplan. Run it all over their lower tier run defense; eat up the clock; limit their offensive possessions. Our defense is good enough to get them punting a few times. We've had an emotional two weeks, and the guys have to be more focused this week.

AR will stack the box and stuff our run, enough, because they know we can't pass the ball.

Mallet will filet our secondary. We stop the run, but we don't do well at all against the pass; that's AR's bread and butter, so I just don't see us being able to stop them. Our only chance is if Mallet has an off day, or his receivers drop multiple passes.

If AR is stopping our run consistently, then we need to go to Russell to see if he can open things up. I was hoping to see more of Russell last night, and when he finally did come in, we scored a touchdown because we challenged Bammer's weakness, and we shifted away from our usual one dimensional gameplan. Russell displays much more poise and awareness in the pocket, and he gives us a chance at developing and/or having adecent passing game. We need to give him a fighting chance. I know some folks on here will give me a ton of **** for saying this, but we haven't even given him a fair chance at finding a rhythm and getting a feel of the speed of the game. He came in ice cold last night (3 snaps in the previous 3 or 4 games), and he engineered a scoring drive, capped off with a 27 yard TD pass. That says a lot about him as a QB.

You beat Arkansas by running the ball and controlling the clock. If we play our game well, we'll beat them. You have to eat clock and limit big plays. Their defense is not that good and they don't have Childs. Should be a good game unless we just stink it up like we did at Bama. Should be a different story at home.
