Art Briles is getting fired

If true, good for Baylor. As is usually the case with this stuff, we only know what we hear about, but I suspect there's a LOT more we never heard a peep about. Now that somebody has shined the light into his corner, Briles has left Baylor with little choice. For a baptist college, they sure have a LOT of demons in their closet in regards to their athletic departments. They almost make Oklahoma look like an honest program, almost.
Wow. I'm reading about possible scandals involving women mistreatment by football players. Is there more to this or is that issue that big of deal, and to the point where he had to be held responsible and fired? Pretty decent record the last 3 years at Baylor and he's really brought them national relevance since his hire

Read some of those Outside the Lines stories, it's eye opening. Also supposedly an investigation into some of these allegations are coming out in the next few days. Speculation on the Baylor board is that it must be pretty bad if they're letting Briles go after earlier saying everyone in the athletic department was cleared.

This is interesting because the other day our old friend Chip Brown said that Baylor was firing Ken Starr as president and Briles would be staying. Now Starr is still president and Briles is gone.
OK, didn't realize they had a systematic issue here. I guess I'll just wait and see what the facts are on all of this. Yikes, another poster above might be right...Baylor sure has had a lot of "major" issues with their sports.
He won't coach in 2016.
If he gets another job out of this, I doubt he goes outside the three states of Texas/Oklahoma/Arkansas.

I figured he wouldn't go outside of Texas. I just wanted to see the reaction if PSU hired a guy that was just fired for turning a blind eye to sexual misconduct after they just turned a blind eye to sexual misconduct for 40 years. The entire college football nation would meltdown.
No question in my mind Texas had their say in this. Got their business partners up in Bristol to dig up as much dirt as possible on Briles to blow up their program. ESPN did the same thing to Leach when Texas Tech got too good for UT's liking. Bad for business for Texas to let another local school be good for too long and take their recruits away.
Too bad. Not sure who's going to pick up the role of top crybaby in the B12 now that he's gone. I wouldn't be surprised if Baylor isn't done cleaning house, though -- that entire place needs an enema.
I've claimed for at least 4 years that the entire Baylor athletic program is likely crooked. This little Baptist school in Waco doesn't magically go from a nice little school to one with national championship women's basketball, NCAA regular in men's basketball, top 10 football program, top 10 baseball program, etc. etc., without some oil money/influence.
I think we're seeing only the tip of this iceberg and it Baylor athletics will not be nearly the same in 5 years that it's been in the past 5 years.

I am happy to see pretty much any team from the old Big 12 fail. Obviously, my first thought is to transfers and recruits. The only problem there is, Baylor is currently sitting at 33rd in the country on 247Sports, so it's not like they were packing in a ton of good ones at the moment. However, I wouldn't be shocked if we and other programs benefit from their downfall in the short term by snatching up a few players that might otherwise have considered Baylor.
According to Rivals, it doesn't look like Nebraska offered any of their commits (yet).

Message to the NCAA: time to step up to the plate. These charges remind me to a lesser extent of the PSU scandal. PSU involved kids, which makes it worse. But sexual assaults against women is also a huge deal. Baylor deserves some VERY serious sanctions.

They hired James Franklin, who turned a blind eye at Vandy, right after the scandal. So I don't think they would have much of a problem with it.
I forgot about his scandal. But I think this is a bigger one (Franklin's was more accusations than getting terminated for issue).
