This article makes it sound like Hugh pretty much said screw football. He has always been a weird, ego centric guy but this golf thing blows my mind. I’m not a huge golfer, but I live on a golf course and at no point have I ever had the desire to just go out to the course and watch random dudes play.

This statement stands out about Harsin "By the time he figured out how important it was to have certain boosters on his side, it was too late and he was fired midway through his second season.", and in stark contrast to Cohen's assertion that he has never seen such...

Massive buyouts provide incentives to coast and not do your job.

3 thoughts

1) the Georgia game was clearly his personal play in game to get year #4

2) chickens eventually come home to roost

3) when coaches lose the locker room they play more golf (and apparently resort to methods that worked in an all Christian high school bubble)

The sub title says it all:

Lesson to ADs everywhere: If you have to hire a crisis PR firm to help sell your toxic hire, just don't.

The Lord was not with Freeze this time. Honestly, I thought when they hired him that it would be a good hire for Auburn and that with their resources he could be very successful there. Something just didn't click. As for the issue w/finding a QB, well that's something that he's never had an issue with before Auburn. He even turned Bo Wallace into a decent QB.

Subhead…Talty gets salty
The "kick a man" when he is down is very real in coaching on social media, news, message boards, etc. I never liked Hugh and his use/abuse of selling the prosperity gospel but what can you do or say, its obvious and you can't really force a group of young men to deeply respect you, they can see what you are made of pretty well.

So don't we all remember that by the time Cohen got to Auburn that the powers that be had already decided that Hugh would be the head coach and that Cohen would be the one to announce it? This deal was done before Cohen got there. He may be the face of it but it wasn't his hire.
