I know we supposedly have a great QB ready to play next year, but I honestly think Brunetti may be better off, competition-wise at MSU. Our QBs might end up being serviceable dual-threat type QBs. But, that's fairly debatable. At WVU, there are a few guys who also think they are the next Pat White and share the same skill set that Brunetti possesses. Both systems allow the QB to be as good as they want to be with their feet or legs.
Brunetti's future, should he commit to MSU, simply depends on what is going on in Mullen's mind and how good Russell actually is. Seeing I'm not Mullen and I've never seen TR in practice, that's up in the air for right now. I don't know what Mullen wants or know how good TR is and what his strengths are (although, I have a decent idea based on hearsay).
However, if history is any indicator, Mullen is going to run his QB...alot. That being the case, the theoretical easy sales pitch to Brunetti is for Mullen to tell him something along the lines of "look, we don't have a QB on our roster is proven as a true dual-threat, you are that guy. You've seen my offenses in the past. They thrive when our QB is dangerous with his arm and legs. You come here, and the offense is yours when you are ready". Whether that's the truth or not is a different matter. If Mullen can sell him on that and somehow get it through his head that he would bring a "unique" skill-set to Starkville vs being a guy like all the other QB prospects at WVU, I think he would have to give us a hard look. The only problem with that is most talented 18 year old athletes think their skill set is unique no matter where they are. He simply just may want to go to WVU and live out his Pat White fetish. Not that there is anything wrong with that - to each their own.
