critiquing our Thursday scheduling.

I don't get how everyone thinks Auburn is going to easily replace all of their starters from last year, essentially. They talk about us losing 4-5 guys and act like it will be a huge obstacle, but then give no second thought to Auburn replacing virtually all of their starters on O and D.

this guy is a Mississippi writer by full-time trade. Anyway, I think he's way off base. Your most improvement is from game 1 to game 2. I'll gladly take an extra 2 days in that span to further refine things, and prepare for arguably the bigger game of the Auburn/LSU pair, since it's more winnable. And the LSU game at home will just lead to an even more frenzied crowd (if we beat Auburn, that is) since you have a guaranteed nightslot on national television. Plus there's the $. The UT/UF gamewas almost guaranteed to get the CBS slot, so we win every way but in prep time.

Why even right this article when the only research you've done is pull out an SEC schedule? Is AL so starved for MSU stories that they are willing to write anything?**

Quote: The way the Bulldogs have scheduled the early part of this season seems only likely to make it easier on their first two conference opponents.

How does he figure this? I completely disgree....If anything, the schedule gives us an advantage.....for auburn at least

1) The scheduling gives us an extra couple of days to prepare for Auburn that they don't get to prepare for us... so I take that as an advantage to us. How does he figure that more days for us to prepare for Auburn gives THEM the advantage???

2) I understand his his thought process for the disadvantage against LSU, but it's not the Thursday game that is the factor......It's the fact that we are playing Aub. and LSU back to back, while LSU plays a cupcake before us. Us and LSU will both be playing on short weeks. LSU was going to be more rested and prepared for us (due to their preseason game before us) regardless of the game being moved to Thursday. I guess you could argue that we'll only have 5 days of rest as compared to 7.... but I think that factor pales in comparison to our respective opponents the preceding week.

The only way a Thursday night game 17s you up is if the other team has more time than you between previous games (ex. bye-week or a previous Thursday game). We can't control who the other team schedules the week before us, which is the biggest factor.
