Shoot. He was awesome as a freshman last year. Big body that can block, run, and catch.. I was expecting him to hit it big this coming season. I'm legitimately disappointed.

I'd consider it a loss. However, we've recruited extremely well at TE as of late. The guy we signed and place provides the same type of wide body receiver.

Thankfully we now have some depth there, but he had great hands for someone of his size. I was hoping he was going to be our Lutzenkirchen.

We have depth at that position, but Artimus Samuel showed great promise last year. He had "star" written all over him. He was very well rounded as a TE and showed great hands. It sucks to lose him.

He had 4 receptions last season. Brandon Hill, Malcom, Rufus, Gus Walley returning, and our new signee. We'll be fine. I promise.

I think I'd be impressed if he had more than 4 catches. If he had 16 catches for 4 TD's then yeah.

I really liked that guy and thought he would develop into a real weapon. We just didn't use him or any tight end enough and I hope that changes.

As a true freshman, he didn't touch the field until the second half of the season. How many receivers had 4 TDs?

I remember two or 3 years ago we lost one right before the season and everybody said no big deal. It turned out to be a big deal after we lost two more to injuries and ended up playing most of the year with only one hybrid T/E. Hope history doesn't repeat itself.

You're kidding right? Samuel was a damn good player as a freshman. Hill stays injured and is inconsistent, Rufus is a tackle now I have no idea how you missed that, walleye hasn't played a snap due to injury and the new signed hasn't played a snap. He may well could have been our #2 and s damn fine one.

Hmm ok let's step back and think about this. We run a spread offense. Our best "tight end" is Malcolm Johnson who, when in the game, is used primarily as a receiver. Artimus was too big to fill the role of our version of a "tight end". Worst case scenario, we lose a tight end. This ins't even near the equivalent to losing a good potential running back or wide receiver. We hardly use tight ends. So again, it's not going to be a big loss to us. Especially considering our depth and new guys coming in.

Malcolm originally came in as a wide receiver. He is now coincidentally our best "tight end". Hell there were games last year that I would ask why we didn't go to Malcolm more.

We will be fine.

That's all fine & dandy --- except for the part in your first post where you said he wasn't going to pan out. Based on what?

The majority of us who watched him as a true freshmen agree he appeared to be the 2nd or 3rd best TE on the roster with 3 years left to play - and maybe our best TE after MJ and Hill graduate this year. We know nothing about Hutcherson (is he even enrolled yet), and have not seen Walley or Hammond.

It shouldn't affect our win / loss column this year, but there's no way you could say he wasn't going to pan out.

So why did we recruit Darrion Hutcherson? Already projecting him to tackle?

Just trust me on this one. He wasn't going to pan out.

No, I don't trust you. He already panned out. He had a big second half of the year. Maybe you should go back and watch tape of the Egg Bowl when he drove Nkemdiche five yards off the ball on Dak's TD. Artimas was going to be a good player for us.

You are and idiot... and you are continuing to prove it with every post. Samuel may not have been on board with the program and if that is the problem, so be it. But, to just say over and over that we will be fine without him is just stupid. He was good enough and valuable enough to see snaps over most of the other TEs that you name late in the season and he certainly showed promise of being great with his play as a freshman.

Quit being a tool. If you know something, spill it. Otherwise, keep telling yourself that you know talent when you obviously don't.

Lol easy there tiger. No point in getting your panties in a fluff over an internet conversation. Also, before you call someone an idiot, check your grammar/spelling.

We will be fine without him. I'm doubting we will see any lack of wins or lack of touchdowns due to his departure. If we do, we have more serious problems on our hands.

As far as knowing talent, I'd be interested in hearing how you are more qualified in knowing everything about talent at the TE position. Do tell.

Soft hands, big body who can move his feet...

Just watched some of the Liberty Bowl and I always thought he had potential and looked good as a freshman. Nice catch with his hands for a TD in that game. Yes our offense does not run through the traditional TE position, but options are a good thing.

Not sure why he is not on the team and I am sure there are good reasons, but I liked the way he played.

Please 17ing explain how he wasn't panning out other than the fact that he's not playing anymore?

Lol ok let's recap. It's like arguing with a bunch of women on here. We have one or two good recruits coming in at the position. We have plenty of depth coming back. Artimus struggled outside of football in other arenas, therefore I didn't expect him to pan out (this had nothing to do with on field ability).

If you all honestly think we will be greatly impacted this season by losing this one guy, y'all are lot more stupid than I first thought.

It would be different if we were talking about a solid 2nd string quarterback that got kicked off the team, but we aren't. **** if we lost Malcolm this year, I'd be a concerned at the position but I think we could figure it out regardless.

You sound like you're ready to run on the Tea Party ticket.

Artimus fell in our lap because schools like Georgia can't afford to waste LOI's on Hargrave bound products. He was a great talent that will be missed. To sit and tell everyone defiantly that he won't means you should probably go the way of Artimus.

Lol I find it somewhat funny that because I have a differing opinion, you think I should leave. How dare someone disagree with anyone from the "pack" right?

Some of you need to put on your big boy pants when someone else disagrees with you. Be an adult.

I'll agree with you that he was good for a freshman. Sure. But some of you act like we're up a creek now without him. Going to my very first post on this thread, not a huge loss. A loss, sure. Not a huge one though.

Its like you just do not understand football. THE GUY STARTED THE BOWL GAME FOR US. It is not as though we are talking about someone who never played. That is what is so dense about talking to you. Its great that we have some talent coming in. However, I do not know if you have paid any attention, but talented high school players do not always pan out (See the bears). This guy could play. Now, if he had off the field problems (which is obviously the problem, seeing how he got kicked off the team during a time period where he is not working out with the team. So, it could not have been field related.), that is a different story. You cannot fix a guy that doesn't want to put in the time and effort to be on the team (by doing the right things off the field).

But none of that changes the original topic and argument, this guy could play. It is obvious to everyone but you that he could play. This fact is backed up by the fact that he was good enough to START THE 17ING BOWL GAME. If we were so talented at that position, wouldn't other people have been starting in the bowl game? You sir, are the one acting like a total ***** here. Just walk away.

The point is that you do not understand how to disagree. To disagree is to point out points of why another person is wrong. Not to just repeat over and OVER and OVER "he won't be a loss". That is why people are sick of you. Its like arguing with my brother's kids.

Kid looked good the last part of the season. I'm glad we have depth there. I don't think we suddenly lose 2 more games now that he is gone but I do think if he stayed he was going to contribute for years to come with quality production.

If you had said this from the beginning, you may not have gotten as much ****. But your earlier comments were more directed at his on-the-field production, and for that, you deserve all of the grief you were getting. The guy started, blocked well, and caught passes for an SEC team as a freshman. Wherever he ends up, as long as he gets his attitude adjusted, he's going to be a helluva football player.
