As a Celtics fan, I find what happened to the lakers absolutely heartbreaking

Lebron is a great individual player in a sport that's mostly a team sport that needs a true team leader.

Kinda a leader like Barry Bonds was a leader if you know what I mean

He has been in 10 NBA Finals and won 4. He also won 3 Olympics gold medals.

Pretty incredible for someone who is a great individual player but not a true team leader.
He sure has led a lot of teams to a ton of success in 3 different decades, despite not being a true team leader.

I wouldn't say he has led any teams to success. He team hopped his way into a few super teams and that's how he won. Certainly not comparable to Mike or Kobe. How many superstars did Mike have ? LeBron chokes under the slightest pressure. I will give him credit for longevity tho. I suppose that is why he collapses every time he bumps into another player. Osteoporosis would be my guess

Give the man credit for that Cleveland championship. His block in game 7 may be the greatest defensive play in NBA history. Also, he drug some no talent teams to the finals. He isn’t Jordan, but he is one of the top 5 of all time.

He got to the NBA Finals 10 times. You seriously think he team hopped his way to 10 NBA Finals appearances because he got onto teams with superstars.

- A team needs multiple stars to win. Knocking LeBron for being on teams with other stars is weak.
- He dragged some teams all the way to the Finals.
- Jordan had Pippen. He also had Grant for the first 3, as a secondary star(not popular to claim him as that, but not wrong).
- Jordan had Pippen. He also had Rodman for the second 3. And Kukoc as a secondary star.
- Do you not realize Pippen is still consistently viewed as a top40 player of all time?
- You mention Kobe and say LeBron isn't like Kobe in team hopping. Um...OK. Do you know how Kobe won 3 Championships in a row? He won them because Shaq came to the Lakers. Shaq was the leading scorer each of those seasons. Shaq was the Finals MVP each of those seasons.

Stars need other stars to win an NBA championship. Ripping on an NBA star for having other greats around them, while ignoring that is the norm, is bonkers.

How many teams did Kobe hop to ? Mike hopped to which teams ? And yes I would pick Scottie over Leflop if building an all time team. Scottie or Bird ? Hmm. Tough decision. Your bullet points are not that convincing

My point was that Kobe didn't 'bounce' elsewhere because a superstar happened to come to him.

You are creating a distinction without a difference if you argue it is worse for a superstar joining a team with other stars, versus a superstar benefitting from another superstar joining their team.

You would take Pippen over LeBron to build an 'all time' team?...and possibly take Pippen over Bird?
Well that was genuinely surprising to read.

Then why did Le'Flop change when Kobe stayed true to his team? Kobe is closer to GOAT talk than luhbron should be. Only thing James has is longevity. I mean in the NFLBrady played longer than most but also won way more championships than James coulda woulda shoulda won.

The irrational hate some have for LeBron is wild.

The dude is the best player in the world this century and a top-handful player of all time.
Forcefully declaring that he isn't the best player of all time is an odd claim to proudly post.
Like OK, he is the second best player of all time?...you really put him in his place!**
Glfr in to save the day!!

Lebron created all the hate. The flopping. The fake reading of a book. The politics. The China stuff. The flopping. The whining like an absolute b1tch on every teeny tiny touch.

LBJ did that not anyone else.

And the forceful declaring that he isn’t the best ever is only in response to the forceful declaring he is the best ever.

Jordan did alot of overdramatic flailing to get foul calls especially in the Finals every single game. Some people are remembering what they want to remember.

I can’t stand LeBron either but he’s one of the greatest ever and he took some dogshít teams to the Finals or conference finals.

ETA: Jordan was a big crybaby too. If he didn’t get a called he would whine to the ref and get in their face.

No doubt LeBron is a top 5.

He’s probably the best “athlete” ever.

But LeBron is way worse than almost anyone else who is considered great at whining like an absolute b1tch.

Whether a superstar left to join other stars to win championships, or stayed and other stars join them, is irrelevant.

In either situation, multiple stars are needed to win championships.
In the last 30 years it's a Ln easy to see reality for the Bulls, the Warriors, the Spurs, the Celtics, and the Lakers. And really every other team that has won as well.

Claiming it is somehow better if a star stays and other stars come to them is a distinction without a difference.
Nobody is minimizing Shaq winning 3 in a row due to changing teams.

Players change teams. They change because they are traded. They change because a contract is better. They change because personalities conflict. They change because front office perspective.
Being like 'oh but they won a lot due to changing teams!' is dumb. Yep, they changed teams because it provided a better opportunity for success.

Michael jordan never had the star power LeBron had.

Who are the 'sidekicks' you referring to in both instances?

And I have no idea why you and other continue to make this a Jordan vs LeBron argument when responding to me. I don't view LeBron as the GOAT, so making odd comparisons of the two in an attempt to show LeBron as worse is pretty pointless.

Jordan had pippen, Rodman, and kucov.

He also had Horace grant and Steve Kerr

Those bulls teams were LOADED

LeBron drug several teams that had no business getting out of the first round to the finals. That first cavalier team he took that lost to an all time great spurs team before he left for Miami was just awful. If it wasn’t for golden state adding Durant to form the Death Star I wager LeBron would have at least one more championship.

I can’t stand LeBron. Number one I’m a Celtics fan and dear god did he get in the way of the KG teams and then the beginning of the Tatum years. Number two there is just something about him that annoys me. But to post on here that he isn’t one of the best all time? Come on, man. He ain’t Jordan. And that’s okay.

I also wonder how many of the people who hate him so vehemently would feel if he acted the same way, but just leaned the opposite way politically.

Yeah I’m going to have to disagree with this. Other than those Miami teams LeBron did not have a lot of star power around him. And like @HailStout pointed out those Cavs teams had no business getting where they did in the playoffs. He carried them.

Jordan had Pippen, who’s considered one of the 50 greatest players all time, for all 6 championships.

Those first 3 peat Bulls teams had some really good players. BJ Armstrong and Horace Grant were not slouches.

The last 3 peat had Rodman, Ron Harper, and Kukoc.

So wtf are you doing on this thread talking up LeBron?

LeBron benefited from changing teams to make super teams when a lot of other players didn’t do that.

then he acted like a b1tch when he wasn’t the super star

Not a whole lot of difference between that cavs team and 91 to 93 bulls
